Sarah Jessica Parker in Nina Ricci
No doubt the biggest thing in New York last night was the Sex and the City premier at Radio City Music Hall, followed by the after party at the Museum of Modern Art. An entire block on 51st Street was taken over by the 300 feet red carpet (it was actually pink, sprinkled with thousands of tiny Swarovski crystals). Fans 5 rows deep lined the entire block, standing in the pouring rain on the other side of the street for a glimpse of their favorite characters, a pretty impressive commitment if you ask me. What was more impressive was the event production, everything went off without a hitch even though right when arrivals started at 6pm, it was torrential downpour. The production company, 1540 Productions, is known for elaborate red carpet events so everything was covered, literally (Made of Honor which had an actual wedding take place during arrivals, Speed Racer had a real race track and Spider Man premiered in 6 cities in 6 days).
