(photo from wwd.com) paris--after the frenzy incited by the cavalli launch, h&m has announced yet another collaboration that will drive fashionista's mad: a spring 2008 line with marimekko. in case you aren't familiar with the brand, marimekko is a legendary finnish textile firm which was beloved in the fifties and seventies for its bold and vibrant prints. h&m is designing a "special capsule collection" featuring tunics, shorts and dresses - all made with marimekko prints. no word on the price points, but it will debut in twenty-eight countries next april. in an interview with wwd, h&m's head designer, margareta van den bosch said, "our design team has long admired marimekko's vivid prints and colors. the (collection) will be joyfully fresh - like a vitamin injection.".....in other h&m news, over 1,000 workers from h&m stores in new york city have voted to join the retail, wholesale and department store union. i sure don't blame them. the clothes are fabulous - but no discount is dope enough to make me work there.
