I heart food, a lot. With that said, I think I may be done with TWO after our first date.
The Boyfriend and I tried a new restaurant for Valentine’s Day - we wanted something fun and low-key, and TWO definitely delivered. The atmosphere was pretty hip, you could go there for drinks with a few friends and have a good time. Try the Four Hundred Rabbits - a pear-vanilla infused tequila served straight up with a pear chip. It’s a delicious twist on tequila with a clean finish, not harsh like tequila can be.
Now for the food.

I started off with a Bacon and Egg Raviolo with spinach and pan-seared with sage and brown butter. My meal was off to a good start, anything with bacon can’t be bad, right? I think that the raviolo was finished with some lemon zest as well because there was a certain tang that just cut through the richness of the butter and egg. Pretty good start, I must say.

The Boyfriend had Mussels with Chorizo in a saffron tomato-y sauce with fennel and toasted sourdough baguettes. This was just okay. Normally we like to slop up the sauce with the bread but this dish was a little lacking and bland. Being as hungry as we were, he promptly finished up the dish anyway.

For my entree, I had a Pan-friend Pork Cutlet with marinara sauce and provolone. I have no clue what I was thinking ordering this - I could have made this myself. I thought that the restaurant would put a fun twist of the dish since it sounded so simple on the menu. Boy was I wrong. I got exactly what looked like a chicken parm - and tasted like one too. Next time (if there is one), I’m getting the duck breast.

Of course I knew the Boyfriend would order a manly meal, the Braised Shortribs with horseradish mashed potatoes. Darn, I wish I would have ordered that too! It was good, simple and expected - nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary but definitely satisfying.

And now for dessert. Most days we skip the last course because I get so full from dinner, but since I only ate half of my entree, I wanted something sweet to finish my meal. Plus, it’s Valentine’s Day, how can you not have dessert?? We shared the Three Mini Ice-Cream Sandwiches. They were super cute - from left to right: Butterscotch Bar with Peanut Butter Ice Cream, Chocolate Chunk Cookie with Espresso Ice Cream, and Oatmeal Current Cookie with Vanilla Cinnamon Ice Cream.
By far, my favorite combination was the oatmeal cookie with vanilla ice cream. And I absolutely loved the espresso ice cream by itself - I’m just not a chocolate kinda gal. The butterscotch/peanut butter combo was way too rich. The Boyfriend took the words from my mouth when he said that it tasted like we were eating a huge spoonful of Jiffy - LOL!

And that, my friends, is the end of dinner. Overall, it was just okay. Some things were better than others but definitely not memorable. If we had to choose, I don’t think we’d come back. Maybe to meet friends for a drink or two. But then again, there are plenty of other places with ambiance and good food in San Francisco.
So there you have it. After my first date with TWO, I think it’s time for us to part ways and see other people.
