"Dancing with the Stars" contestant CRISTIAN DE LA FUENTE pulled a muscle in his arm during Monday night's performance show. The program cut to commercial immediately and de la Fuente was later taken to the hospital in an ambulance for further treatment.
The Latin heartthrob and his partner CHERYL BURKE were half-way through their samba, when de la Fuente stopped dancing, apparently in pain. He rallied and carried on to finish the dance, but despite protests from de la Fuente that he was "fine," the show cut to commercial so that EMTs could check out his injury.
After the commercial, host TOM BERGERON informed the live audience that de la Fuente had been diagnosed with a "severe muscle cramp." Holding an ice pack to his arm, de la Fuente listened as the judges commended him for going on with the show. Judge CARRIE ANN INABA announced that they would only judge the pair based on their performance before the injury, and said, "I really appreciate that you went the whole round and that you were there for Cheryl." Judge LEN GOODMAN called him "brave" while judge BRUNO TONIOLI said, "You did your best and we appreciate that."
