'Meet the Spartans' came in No. 1 at the box office this weekend, taking in $18.7 million for first place, according to preliminary studio estimates.
The film (starring SEAN MAGUIRE of "The Class") spoofs classical battle films like '300' and 'Troy,' and co-stars CARMEN ELECTRA, KEVIN SORBO and METHOD MAN.
SYLVESTER STALLONE's 'Rambo' debuted at a close second with $18.2 million. The plot of Rambo's return to the big screen follows a group of Christian aid workers who recruit John Rambo to guide them up Southeast Asia's Salween River to deliver medical supplies to the oppressed Karen tribe. When the missionaries fail to return from Burma, the aging Vietnam vet leads a team of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to rescue them.
