Ahhhh the legendary Crème de la Mer. Celebrities swear by it, women the world over sing it's praises. The cream was created by Dr. Max Huber, an Aerospace Physicist. He was conducting a routine experiment when it exploded in his face. He suffered from severe chemical burns and nothing he tried helped. Huber decided to help himself. Twelve years and 6,000 experiments laterCrème de la Mer was born.
As luck would have it, I had burned myself with a curling iron (No really...I am always doing this) about a week prior to using the cream. The burn was pretty bad, not as severe as a chemical burn but bad nonetheless and right on the side of my face. Well, I started using La Mer, and the burn was healed up quite nicely in about 2 weeks. I continued to use it for a full month and noticed that my skin was getting softer and lines were softened, not gone, but softened. This cream would be perfect if you were in any kind of extreme condition weather wise. Be prepared, the cream is heavy...it feels heavy but absorbs very nicely. It feels somewhat like a salve on your skin which most likely why it is soothing to the skin. A little will go a long long way. I used it at night, but found it too heavy to use in the daytime.
The cream itself has ingredients that are completely unremarkable. It is the manner in which they are prepared that is said to make the huge difference. La Mer (the ocean en francais) is a blend of sea kelp, vitamins and minerals. It is
distilled and fermented for 3 to 4 months. They do have lighter versions, the lotion is very light and just as effective in my opinion. It is extremely lightweight (love that!), they have also just released a gel creme that promises to be lighter in weight with the same benefits.
Now, it is pretty steep. $110 for 1oz, $195 for 2oz and a whopping $1200 for 5oz (although I highly doubt that you will ever need that much...LOL!). Unless your skin is dry, dehydrated or you live in a climate with extreme weather, I would suggest giving the gel creme or the lotion a try. The benefits to your face are substantial because clearly it has some benefits however, price may be a factor. If you do decide to get it, be sure to use the little spatula that comes with it so you can make it last as long as possible...LOL! If you bought a 2oz jar and managed to make it last for 6 months that comes to $32.50 per day for fabulous skin! That should make you feel a little better about it.....
Stay Pretty!!
