TOM CRUISE's main squeeze, wife KATIE HOLMES, ran in the New York City Marathon today.

Tom was waiting on the sidelines about 10 miles from the finish line with a kiss for his bride, holding their daughter SURI, 1, in his arms, reports People magazine.

Katie wore a black baseball cap and a purple tank top as she ran in the 26.2 mile race, which a source for People estimated she'd finish in about five hours total.
