Designer Adam Lippes is bringing his t-shirt and underwear turned contemporary sportswear line Adampluseve to the Meatpacking district this fall. The 2,500 square foot shop at 678 Hudson Street will be the first of several planned stores, as Lippes is taking advantage of hitting the jackpot new investment in his label coming indirectly from France's Richemont Group, parent to Cartier, Chlo¿¿, etc. The four-year-old brand has undergone an upgrade in recent seasons, shifting its focus from casual t-shirts and innerwear for men and women to a more luxurious contemporary sportswear collection complete with an elegantly redesigned logo. While the store is still firmly within the boundaries of the Meatpacking district between 13th and 14th streets, it points towards Hudson Street as room for retail expansion, particularly the stretch between Bleecker and 14th streets. Lippes tells WWD,
¿¿¿I really want this to be a place where people can come in, sit,
hang out and discover something,¿¿¿ he explained. ¿¿¿There will be great
music and books to check out, and those, too, will be for sale. This
will be a place that I would want to live in, and trust me, when the
store opens, I will be there all the time.¿¿¿
Sure, that's what they all say, until it comes time to help the customers.
