żżż SubChrono, a 10-year-old French-based (or Israeli-based, we really can't tell) sports watch company has opened their first stateside store at 438 West Broadway just below Prince Street, right next to Swatch. Those of you who are fans of the shiny, chunky, sports watch with touches of colorful plastic or precious stones or both will no doubt be pleased by this development. The prices range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand depending on the proportion of such details. We found the staff s little rough-edged, but amiable. Hopefully more finesse will come with experience.

We have been told repeatedly that in Los Angeles they line up for this stuff like it's a cupcake shop, but we have yet to witness such a sight at the 8th avenue location in Chelsea. Perhaps they will fare better in a more tourist friendly area, but of it's a choice between them and neighbor Rice To Riches, we're afraid that the Stubborn Banana rice pudding will win out every time.
żżż And, not to forget UNIQLO, The final installment of this seasons Designers Invitation Project from Japanese label G.V.G.V. will be arriving this Friday, June 15. Their lack of stateside recognition may mitigate the sort of frenzy that 3.1 Phillip Lim caused, but be warned, so far these lines seem to be strictly for the tiny. The UT T-shirts keep coming in as well, and the canister-packaged styles are here, arranged on shelves instead of in vending machines.
