They say you can't judge a book by its cover. But I must say that that is precisely what drew me to this one. The photograph of crouching baby, nonplussed chicken is so fabulous, that I might just mount it on a wall shelf and call it a day. But for those of you who do think beauty is more than skin deep, here's a bit more info about what's actually
in the book.
Cicci Cocco features a collection of absolutely gorgeous photos by Enzo Arnone, that celebrate a child's innocent approach to life. (I call it the get-right-down-on-the-level-of-your-subject approach, as evidenced by the cover photo.) Despite its sophisticated stills, this is a children's book with accompanying rhymes and text (in Italian, French and English) by designer/author Bruno Munari (see his recently republished
zoo book). Available at Modernchild for $22 or $75 for a limited edition signed copy with numbered photos. Either way, it's certainly one to be enjoyed by both you and your child for years to come.
