France’s former First Lady is a diva. Bulgari says so. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is starring in the Rome-based brand’s Diva campaign (the former model’s first jewelry ad). Bruni-Sarkozy was excited to be in front of the camera—this case, Terry Richardson’s—because of “fond recollection of her aunt’s Bulgari gems,” Vogue UK is reporting.
“Bulgari is for me the symbol of passion and of this vivid and colorful Roman gaiety,” she told Vogue UK. “Like the stones of the Seventies bracelet that my aunt work when I was a child. I loved that bracelet. I loved its joy, its fantasy—I dreamed of one day possessing such a wonder of my own! I was told that, like me, it came from Italy to Paris. Perhaps that was part of why I loved it too.”
How could she not love Bulgari after that story, right? One thing’s for sure, we love how her first campaign as the face of the brand turned out.
