With a runway show nothing short of extravagant, Burberry marked the opening of its Shanghai flagship store on the morning of April 24. Though the brand has 36 stores in China (four of them being in Shanghai), this has been the most over-the-top opening celebration we’ve seen. Models Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse both flew out to take part in the show, the former making a Mary Poppins-esque appearance for the finale as she flew over the audience pulled by a Burberry-check print umbrella. The show’s backdrop layered images of London’s Regent Street (where the brand’s global flagship is located) and Shanghai to signify the unity of the two cities with this latest expansion. British musicians Paloma Faith and Ed Harcourt collaborated on a track called “You Can’t Stop The Rain,” which the singer performed as dancers wearing—what else?—trench coats danced with—what else?—umbrellas.
