Buzz Alert: Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson to Sing at President Barack Obama’s Inauguration

By  January 09, 2013

If 2013 wasn’t already marked as the return of the musical powerhouse that is Beyoncé with her new album, Superbowl XLVII performance, and post-baby body on the cover of February’s GQ, then this next bit of news will seal the deal — we do solemnly swear! The “Countdown” singer will be joined by Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor to perform at the second inauguration of President Barack Obama. Mrs. Jay-Z was recruited to succeed Aretha Franklin and belt out our National Anthem while Clarkson and Taylor will cap off the patriotic atmosphere with “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” and “America The Beautiful” at the Capitol Hill ceremony on January 21st.

Beyoncé first serenaded the President and Michelle Obama (a FLOTUS vision in white chiffon by Jason Wu) during the 2009 Inaugural Ball with a soulful rendition of the Etta James classic, “At Last.” She has proven a staunch supporter of the Obama administration by posting pics on her “baddiebey” Instagram account and raising $4 million for the President’s 2012 campaign at a dinner co-hosted by her husband Jay-Z, who also performed for the President during his 2012 election rally in Ohio. While we’ll filing our vacay requests to head down to the Capitol for the historic moment, we’re wondering if members of the audience will be decked in patriotic shades of red, white, and blue or if they’ll opt for black and yellow shades of bey?
