The countdown is on for the Met Ball next Monday night! We can’t wait to see how our favorite celebrities do punk, if they do at all. The New York Times crushed our hopes that celebrities would embrace punk on the red carpet, saying that too many are finding it difficult to find proper attire for the Costume Institute gala’s theme: Punk to Chaos at Metropolitan Musuem of Art on May 6th. But they did manage to rev up our imaginations with rumored pairings. Oh, you want to wait for the live stream? Totally kidding, we wouldn’t tease you like that.
Here is a list of speculated pairings:
Jennifer Lopez with Michael Kors, Gwyneth Paltrow with Valentino, and both Jennifer Lawrence and Marion Cotillard with Dior, not surprisingly. Debbie Harry and Nicki Minaj will have fun attending with Tommy Hilfiger, Elle and Dakota Fanning with the Mulleavy sisters, otherwise known as Rodarte, Allison Williams with Joseph Altuzzara; Brian Atwood and Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Kane with Stella Tennant, Peter Copping with Carolyn Murphy, Emma Roberts with Diane von Furstenberg, and Jessica Alba with Tory Burch.
Jaime King and Julianne Hough will attend as guests of Topshop. Met Ball Honorary Chair Beyoncé‘s sister Solange Knowles will attend with Humberto Leon and Carol Lim of Kenzo. The new face of H&M Gisele Bundchen is rumored to be wearing Anthony Vaccarello and Riccardo Tisci is bringing Rooney Mara, who will most likely wear Givenchy. One name notably missing is Kim Kardashian, so perhaps Anna Wintour did wield her power and make an executive decision where Kanye West’s –who will perform most likely in Givenchy–baby’s mother is concerned.
UPDATE: Now we can add a few others to the list, thanks to Fashionista, Burberry is bringing Sienna Miller, Peter Pilotto is taking Brooklyn Decker, Saint Laurent is attending with Greta Gerwig and one person who definitely won’t be in attendance is John Galliano. We’ll be sure to keep updating the list as we get more info so continue to check back!
What do you think of the pairings?
