“You could take half of this space and do a lot of the things we’ve done here,” the Top Chef guest judge said of the huge show kitchen she designed. While the kitchen she designed was gorgeous, it was a bit impractical by this New Yorker’s standards. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to spice up our kitchen, too. Cora’s advice? An herb garden! “Everyone has a little bit of window space or counter space that they can put a little mini garden.” Cora also suggested canisters as a good way to condense items and create space. Maximize all of your wall space, too. Think hanging plates that you can customize with Shutterfly photo blocks that double as a chalk board or art.
“The biggest thing that you can do to eat healthy is to buy seasonally, buy locally,” Cora said when we asked her how we could our soon-to-be-pretty kitchen to eat healthy. “It’s going to taste better, be healthier and less expensive.”
“They are definitely times where I’ve had to run by the grocery store and all I’ll have time to do is run home, make a salad, or make a pot of rice or pasta and go buy organic chicken that’s already premade. “Instead of feeling like you have to do anything from scratch from start to finish–consolidate. Let’s give people who are busy a little bit of permission to do that.”
