The French designer will take budget babes on a trip to Paris in an 80-piece collection that was inspired by many of the city’s landmarks and architecture. Malandrino even went as far as to take the project’s 8 leading designers on a tour of the city of lights where they used an intricate design on iron gate to create a jacquard print and even a photo from atop the Roue de Paris ended up as a digital print on a silk jersey dress. “Every woman in America has a French dream in her head, especially a Parisian one,” she told Women’s Wear Daily. “I always go to Paris for a reason but this time I wanted to step back as a woman who wants to rediscover Paris with all knowledge to make it more of a secret adventure for them.”
Though Malandrino already has a diffusion line that is in the midst of a revamp with help from Elie Tahari, she noted that the Kaiser himself inspired her to work with a different market like Kohl’s to become a more accomplished designer. “This is what I find changing. You have to have a much more open mind about adding different creativity to new categories and the man who has been showing us the way is Karl Lagerfeld,” she said.
The collection is set to hit Kohl’s stores nationwide and Kohls.com in late September.
