Celebrity-Christmas-Traditions

There is something about Christmas that makes us want to indulge in traditions, both new and old. Many families have traditions for this time of year. Some bake cookies while others shop on Christmas Eve. Growing up, my mother made Christmas an extra special holiday, and I always look forward to celebrating it now. I love to drive around each year, looking at all the neighborhood Christmas lights. Add some Christmas music and a mug of hot chocolate — perfect. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Festivus, we bet you have some special ways of observing the holidays.   So do celebs!   Here’s how some of your favorite celebrities celebrate the holidays.

Mariah Carey

You may listen to her “All I Want For Christmas Is You” album to get into the holiday spirit, but Mimi has a much odder way of ringing in the season. While visiting Aspen for Christmas, she likes to snuggle into the snow in a bikini after a hot tub dip. “It’s a tradition for us to have Santa Claus-looking bikinis, jump in the hot tub, and roll in the fresh snow.  Somebody told me that it was a tradition in Aspen, but maybe they were lying to me.”

Brooke Shields

It’s a very, very New York holiday for Brooke.  ”If I’m not in New York for Christmas, I feel like I’ve somehow missed Christmas. I don’t really like going any place warm for Christmas. I like to feel the cold, and sometimes we just like to walk around the city on Christmas Day after we’ve had breakfast or we go see a movie. There’s something very comforting about being in New York.”

Jennifer Aniston

For Jennifer, it’s all about the tree.  ”I do a tree-trimming party every year,” she tells Allure of her annual soiree, which she’ll hold for the 16th time this year. “At my tree-trimming party, we always do chili: turkey, regular beef and vegetarian. Everybody is satisfied.”

The Kardashians

If you haven’t seen the Kardashians’ krazy Kristmas kards, then you’re missing out.  Every December, the Kardashian’s send out a Christmas card, capturing the true meaning of the holiday spirit.  There’s really no question that the most recent Kard is the best of all. The money signs, the disregard for media, the cleavage.  If there is an illuminati, the Kardahsians are, like, definitely in it.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese loves to sing.  The actress goes Christmas caroling every year. “I have a Christmas caroling party right before Christmas.  I love to sing and have fun.”

James Franco

Some people dread going home for the holidays, but not James Franco! “I’m so busy all year that Christmas is great because that’s when I get to go home and visit all the people who I’ve known for years.  I go house to house and hang out by their Christmas trees. Sometimes we sing songs and catch up on how the year has been. It’s a great time, and I look forward to it all year long.”

Kate Hudson

Kate likes to put a lot of thought into her gifts, making most of them herself.  ”My gift-giving is very personal, so I start really early, usually around October,  I love making gifts or finding just the right thing for someone, so I like to give myself plenty of time.”

Ali Landry

Actress Ali Landry and her husband Alejandro Monteverde are traveling to Louisiana with their three kids – Estela, 6, Marcelo, 2, and Valentin, 5 months – to celebrate the holidays.  “My family is from Louisiana and my husband’s family is from Mexico, so we take turns each year.”

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake

How will the newlyweds spend their first Christmas?  ”We’re pretty much going to do the same thing that we do every year: hang out with our family and just be mellow,”  The actress also revealed that as a child, she would mutilate her Barbie dolls by “pulling their heads off, cutting off all their hair, dyeing them with markers and sticking them on the Christmas tree lights. They’d light up like these demonic heads.”  Creepy.
