Style Scoop: CFDA Takes Over the Fashion Calendar, Get in the Ring with Chanel, Fashion Continues to Save Italy

Beginning October 1, the Council of Fashion Designers of America will integrate a tool created by Ruth Finley in 1945, streamlining how fashion shows and events are scheduled. “The Fashion Calendar has been one of the foundations on our industry, ensuring that the press, retailers and designers are able to come together in an efficient manner,” CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg said. “Now that it is part of the CFDA, we are prepared and excited to take it into the new world.” [Women’s Wear Daily]

Chanel’s Fall 2014 ad shows off the quilted goods against a chain link fence while Delevinge and Binx Walton go for a quick jog in their branded sneaks and plaids. We’d sprint for Chanel too. In another example of how fashion is saving Italy, Giorgio Armani will create a new gallery in front of his company’s headquarters, to offer a platform for new and emerging fashion designers, with learning spaces including classes and a library. The gallery will also host a permanent exhibition of Armani’s archive designs and sketches. “Milan is the city where I decided to live and work, and which has been a tough, loyal teacher to me. It taught me that you don’t obtain anything by chance, but that you reach the most difficult goals with daily involvement,” the designer said. “That’s why I’ve decided to put the fruits of my work, which doesn’t only include clothes but textile explorations and experience, at the disposal of my city. I thought it would be interesting for everybody, in particular for the young generations approaching fashion and design worlds.” [British Vogue]

Award-winning actress Halle Berry is partnering with Watch Hunger Stop campaign with Michael Kors to help build a world with zero hunger. She will work with the designer to raise awareness and funds for Nations World Food Programme (WFP). “I’m delighted to continue working with Michael Kors and the UN World Food Programme in this effort to achieve a world without hunger,” said Berry. “Since we first launched the 100 series watch last spring, we’ve helped WFP deliver more than five million meals to children in need.
