CFDA Honoree Vera Wang Takes Home Highest Award With Grace

By  June 03, 2013

The iconic womenswear designer and the dream style collaborator for brides everywhere, Vera Wang, was honored at this evening’s Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards ceremony with the 2013 Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. It was presented to her by friend and fellow industry leader, Ralph Lauren. Tommy Hilfiger was last year’s recipient.

This isn’t Wang’s first time being recognized by the association. In 2005, she took home the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year title. We can hardly think of anyone more deserving of both awards. In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily published earlier today, Wang spoke humbly about her feelings towards the  most recent good news, sharing, “It’s an unimaginable honor. To be respected by your peers — and I don’t mean just the designers, but editors, retailers, everyone who votes — it was just overwhelming. At the same time, I want to feel deserving. That involved looking backwards at my work and my own personal journey, and hoping I haven’t disappointed myself, of all people.”

Wang looked sultry and chic at the event, donning a slate fishtail hem top with a floor-length train, black fitted pants, and chunky heels. Endless congratulations to the designer!
