Instagram was quickly given fashion’s stylish stamp of approval. The industry takes to the photo-sharing site to break new campaigns, spokespeople, and tease fashion shows. Now, the Council of Fashion Designers of America want to know, who is the best fashion Instagrammer of them all?
First, let’s talk qualifications. What makes a good Instagrammer? They must have “the ability to capture a moment in everyday life that is as much filitered as it is unfiltered,” according to Instagram’s cofounder Kevin Systrom told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s not a produced moment that feels inauthentic.”
To figure out who fits the bill , let’s take a look at the CFDA’s first ever nominees: the head of creative development at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Donald Robertson, or @donalddrawbertson, Ludget Delcy, @dapperlou, of the Brooklyn-based men’s style blog Dapper Lou, Patrick Janelle, @aguynamedpatrick, a graphic designer/art director/founder of Spring Street Social Society, Pari Ehsan, @paridust, a Brooklyn-based fashion blogger and designer, Christina Caradona, @troprouge, Gap’s global community manager, Amy Stone or @amy_stone, Photographer Amanda Jasnowski AKA @hokaytokay and New York-based designer Douglas Abraham, or, @bessnyc.
The eight nominees were chosen by a CFDA committee made up of Rachel Zoe, The Coveteur’s Stephanie Max and Editorialist’s Stefania Allen and Kate Davidson Hudson. We can participate in the voting by “liking” any of the nominees pictures tagged #MyCFDA on Instagram. The winner will take over the CFDA’s Instagram account the night of the CFDA award show on June 2nd at the Alice Tully Hall.
May the best filter be with you, nominees.
