After almost a year of silence, a new hire has reaffirmed Christian Louboutin’s plan to march into beauty – red soles and all.
The Daily reported Tenten Wu, former global director of PR and media at Belvedere Vodka, has been named director of global communications at the fledgling luxury beauty brand that is set to hit shelves late this year. Louboutin is in good hands as Wu has previously held posts at Kao Brands and L’Oréal Paris.
The line will embody the same femme fatale aesthetic as his eye-catching shoes, taking inspiration from historical beauty icons like Nefertiti. (Side note: the glam queen also inspired a cocktail bar he created in 2011 for charity.) “It’s the most beautiful thing. I stayed like an hour just looking at the bust,” he mused to Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s a perfect beauty and the makeup is quite perfect.”
While overall product details remain mum, there’s still a chance that his eponymous manicure—which was first made famous thanks to Adele’s six Grammy wins in 2012—will make its way onto beauty counters worldwide. With Wu now on board, there’s no telling what luxurious delights await us before the end of 2013.
