Fashion Week Insider Christian Siriano is getting dreamy with Disney.
The well known (and much loved) designer teamed up with Walt Disney Studios to bring to life the newest addition to the world of Tinker Bell and Neverland in “The Pirate Fairy.”
“I loved the challenge of this project. I haven’t designed for an animated character before, and I’m excited to take my skills into Zarina’s world,” Siriano said in a press release announcing the collaboration. She’s a unique and new character and I wanted to help make her memorable and iconic. Disney characters are everlasting and I’m so happy as a young designer to help create a bit of Disney history.”
It was only a matter of time before Siriano was tapped to dress such a Disney character considering the Project Runway alum has become known for his whimsical and show-stopping designs. The newly engaged designer consulted with Disneytoon Studios on Zarina pirate fairy costume. Zarina, voiced by Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks, is a dust-keeper fairy that falls in with a band of pirates, including a cabin boy named James, voiced by The Avengers’ Tom Hiddleston. “The Pirate Fairy” hits theaters on April 1st, 2014.
“Zarina is a powerful character, able to run a Pirate Ship and we wanted her to be a strong, adventurous fairy,” Peggy Holmes, the director of The Pirate Fairy said. “Christian is phenomenal at creating bold, amazing silhouettes that truly celebrate a woman for who she is – powerful, feminine and fierce. He was the perfect choice.”
Are we too old to sit in on this? We can’t wait to see Siriano’s vision brought to life!
