A slew of designers marked 2013 as their year to make a splash in the beauty world, and Christian Siriano might be next on the list.

He’s flirted with the idea in the past, dipping his toe into the industry with a capsule collection for Victoria’s Secret in 2008, but the Project Runway alum now plans to release a namesake scent late in 2014. “It’s a little sweet and spicy, and a little bit universal,” Siriano told Women’s Wear Daily, regarding the upcoming perfume. “I didn’t want to have a fragrance that would be a trend.”

He’s also getting in touch with his hairstyling roots by partnering with Sabastian Professional to help give his models’ hair a lift during New York Fashion Week. In addition, he’ll work on a product collaboration and packaging design. He’s also slated to serve as the hair authority’s guest editor on their social media channels and judge the brand’s What’s Next Awards in April, putting his eye for style to the test. “I started working in the salon when I was 13 with a work permit that my guidance counselor gave me,” Siriano explained. “It was its own little creative world in a preppy world, which is why I think I was able to be myself so young.”

But beauty is only the first step in his plan to conquer the lifestyle world as he’s set to launch eyewear for Spring 2014 as well as continue his line of home products and collaborations with HSN, Payless, and more. “I think the whole idea is that now fashion is really about building a brand, a lifestyle, a head-to-toe look — hair, makeup, shoes and accessories,” said Siriano. “I would like any [upcoming] partnership to [give] me creative freedom and promotes what I’m trying to say. It is of course a goal to be able to one day have each category only on the Siriano label, but there is time for that.”
