Cocktail Recipes to Try During Hurricane Sandy

AS WE’RE SEQUESTERED IN THE SAFETY OF OUR HOMES in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy’s arrival, we’re passing the time in a multitude of ways. Crafting a delicious libation is a sure way to make a sweet escape from the wicked weather. Stir up some spirits with these recipes and see if they don’t calm your cabin fever!

Mango Hurricane

1 oz. Cruzan Mango Rum
1 oz. Cruzan Aged Dark Rum
Orange Juice
Splash of Grenadine

Combine ingredients with ice in a hurricane glass. Add a splash of grenadine. Garnish with an orange wedge and a cherry.

Perfect Storm

1 ½ oz. EFFEN Black Cherry Vodka
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 oz. Simple Syrup
1 oz. Fresh Pomegranate Juice (Use fresh pomegranates, not bottled)
1 dash Angostura Bitters
2 oz. Club Soda

In a mixing glass, shake all but the club soda with ice. Strain into a tall glass over ice and lemon wheels. Top with club soda and stir.

Cali Castaway

2 oz. Caliche Rum
¾ oz. Melon Liquer
¾ oz. Lemon Juice
½ oz. Triple Sec
3 dashes Mint Bitters

Combineall ingredients in a cockatil shaker, fill with ice until well-chilled. Serve in a coupe glass.

Black Cherry Cyclone

1 ½ oz. EFFEN Black Cherry Vodka
½ oz. DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps Liquer
1 ½ oz. Fresh Apple Juice
¾ oz. Lemon Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
6 Basil leaves

In a mixing glass, muddle basil, lemon and simple syrup. Add remaining ingredients and stir with ice. Strain into a low tumbler over ice. Garnish with basil.

Single N’ Stormy

2 oz. Cruzan Single Barrel Rum
4 oz. Ginger Beer
Cruzan Blackstrap Rum Float
1 Lime

Combine all ingredients over ice in a tumbler and shake for 20 seconds. Pour into a tall glass. Squeeze Lime Juice and float Cruzan Blackstrap on top.
