Proving that everything, fashion included, gets better with age, Cole Haan is tapping models that are 85!
The brand was born in 1928 and is celebrating the milestone with four models, most whom are 85-years-old. Writer Maya Angelou, photographer Elliott Erwitt, astronaut Jim Lovell and model China Machado (the only 84-year-old) will star in “Born in 1928.”
“They are all vibrant examples of how timelessness and true style are born out of confidence—that never expires,” Cole Haan vice president of marketing Erin Riley told Women’s Wear Daily. “They are as relevant today as they were in the past, and they all represent various perspectives that we thought would resonate with our consumer.”
The campaign was shot in black and white by Daniel Jackson and will launch of September 3rd. We can first expect to see the models wearing custom shoes on ColeHaan.com and on the brand’s social platforms before a gradual roll out on various fashion websites and November glossies.
“We need to look back to look forward,” Riley said. “At the same time, we are a very modern brand and we don’t want to be perceived as a traditional heritage brand. We’re more about attitude than an age group.”
