She’s the creative mastermind behind the garb worn in blockbuster hits such as Edward ScissorhandsMemoirs Of A Geisha, Nine, Mission Impossible, and Alice In Wonderland, just to name a few, but it seems that Colleen Atwood‘s fashion focus has now shifted. The Academy Award winning costume designer is breaking from her career creating behind-the-scenes screen magic, where she developed the looks of our favorite silver screen characters for over twenty years, to something a bit more consumer oriented–handbag design!

Having drawn inspiration from her experiences traveling the world, from walking eclectic streets of Japan to witnessing the luxurious craftsmanship known to Italy, Atwood’s debut line consists of dapper leather totes, ponyhair clutches, triangular evening bags and more. ”I think that this collection will be great for the busy women of today,” she shared according to Vogue.com. “The bags go from day to evening easily and are elegant in both colour and style. They are for women who are combining family, career, and a bit of fun. They are for people who love luxury and understated style.”

While we look forward to the collection’s official launch, Atwood’s participation in Through the Looking Glass, allegedly coming to theaters in 2016, should be another point of excitement. From chic bags back to costumes for anther brilliant film by Tim Burton, is there anything this woman can’t do?
