The Colorado cult cosmetics emporium Cos Bar is finally making waves on the coast with a New York flagship.
The luxury beauty shop will be located in the heart of downtown in the emerging Brookfield Place neighborhood and will have a completely different concept from the other 13 shops dotted in wealthy pockets throughout the country. “We’ve had so many requests to do New York,” Lily Garfield, Founder and President of Cos Bar told Women’s Wear Daily. “This is right up Cos Bar’s alley. It’s so unbelievable what’s going on downtown with the Freedom Tower and the World Trade Center Memorial. [Brookfield Place] is a new neighborhood being created that is high end and super luxury. I love that little pocket of New York. There’s a lot of history down there.”
There will be no open-sell area in the new location, but the retailer already has the beauty buff favorites like Clé de Peau and La Prairie are expected to line the shelves. “It will have mini branded shops-in-shop. It will have some of our tried-and-true layouts and merchandising,” she explained.”If you live within a 10-block radius they’ll deliver.”
Though Cos Bar has been in business for 38 years, with a cult following to match its legacy, many on the East Cost and beyond were first introduced to the retailer in 2012 when it participated in The Shops at Target, which partnered the mass-market retailer with independent shops and boutiques.
We can’t wait to explore the new space when it finally opens its doors!
