Last fall, the sophisticated Swedish brand COS, short for Collection of Style and H&M’s fancier older sister, established their first market retail venture in the United States by teaming up with Opening Ceremony for an exclusively curated collection. The premiere autumn/winter line was sold exclusively at Opening Ceremony’s flagship store in New York City and featured stylish, timeless, and luxurious pieces representative of COS’s known design aesthetic.
Said Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the dynamic duo behind Opening Ceremony, “We’re such huge fans of the COS brand. Whenever we travel overseas, we always make it a point to shop at COS since we haven’t been able to get their collection before at home. We’re so excited to introduce COS to our shores.”
Fast-forward a season, and COS and Opening Ceremony are back for a spring surprise, this time in California. The brands debuted their spring/summer collection at a COS popup store at the Los Angeles based Opening Ceremony. Lux leather bucket bags, chunky sandals, and oversized yet structured dresses and light coats decorated the racks as the cocktail party to celebrate the line took place around the shop. Martin Andersson, COS’s Head of Menswear Design explained, “There is a strong creative synergy between COS and Opening Ceremony which became apparent in New York, with the great reaction to the collection from customers on the East Coast. We are therefore super excited to be able to partner with Carol and Humberto once again in the creation of the COS pop up store at Opening Ceremony LA.”
