Could IMG Fashion Be Paving the Way for the Supermodel’s Return?

Ask Naomi Campbell, and she’ll tell you – the supermodel no longer exists.

Undeniably she has a point. There was a time when you couldn’t escape seeing supermodel’s faces—whether on every single cover on the newsstand, making cameos in your favorite commercials or appearing in blockbuster movies. Now, not so much.

We have a feeling that’s all about to change.  William Morris Endeavors is said to be in talks to acquire IMG for $2.3 billion. So if this merger does go through, and at this point, it looks pretty certain, we could see a return to the glory days as far as the fashion talent IMG reps, specifically, the models, are concerned.

“I see [the merger] as a real win for IMG Fashion,” Robert M. Gutowski, a partner at Innovative Sports and Entertainment, which counsels private equity firms in sports, entertainment and media company investments, told Fashionista. “IMG is going to have a very strong opportunity to take advantage of their that that wants to move into film and television, while remaining in house.”

Sounds like now is the time for models who want to cross over, or actresses to take a step further, especially in the case of Kim Basinger, an actress who just signed to IMG models. This could be just the shot models like Chanel Iman, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss need to push them true super model status.

Chrissy Teigen definitely isn’t shying away the television any time soon. Just this year she’s made appearances on SnackdownFashion Police, and Model Employee, on top of her regular talk show circuit including Entertainment Tonight, Good Day L.A. and Oprah’s Next Chapter. She’s been more than vocal about her passion to appear on television, especially when it comes to the food realm of entertainment.

We can’t wait to see what else is in store for the IMG girls!
