By  March 28, 2014

george-papanikolas-ditlGlam looked in on George Papanikolas, colorist to the stars, in the midst of the awards season madness. Here, he shares his packed schedule filled with construction, color appointments, and celebrities like Jaime King:

6:00AM: Wake up with 2 cups of coffee, check emails, and make breakfast.
7:00AM: Work out at Equinox. I love to get my work out done in the morning…something always comes up at night, so morning is mandatory.
8:30AM: Stop by my house, which is under major renovations, and do a quick walk through with my contractor to make sure everything is moving along.
9:00AM: Start at the salon. With color appointments, you can double and triple book, so I’m usually looking at a day with 25-30 hair color appointments.
10:00AM Call from my agency that Jaime King needs to be squeezed in for a blow dry at 1:00pm to go to an Oscars weekend event that afternoon.
10:15AM: Call my 1-2:00PM clients to get moved down the schedule.
1:00PM: King arrives at the salon. We discuss her dress, which is very couture so we want to do something cool and natural. I show her the Saint Laurent ad campaign for reference, and we both love the soft undone waves.
1:15PM: We shampoo and condition with Matrix Biolage VOLUMEBLOOM shampoo and conditioner, and apply Matrix Biolage Whipped Volume Mousse to hair before styling. Finish it with a touch of Biolage ExquisiteOil Softening Treatment.
1:45PM: Jaime is all set.
2:00PM: Continue getting through my day of color clients. Luckily, I have 3 assistants to prep and mix for me, so the day moves like a well-oiled machine.
7:30PM: Day doesn’t end…there is always requests for house calls, especially during awards season. House calls are the ultimate in luxury for my clients. We work till 9:00PM.
9:00PM Dinner at Cecconi’s with friends…even after a long day, I really try and balance it out with my personal time with friends.
11:00PM In bed, and we do it all over again the next day.
