A Murderous Mani Straight From the Runway

By  October 07, 2013

The Blonds are never ones to be subtle about any collection, and for fall 2013, the brand paid homage to Alfred Hitchcock and the classic suspense movies we love to be frightened by. No detail was left to chance—even the incredibly creepy yet innovative REDRUM manicure, inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining”, that models rocked on the runway. Glam turned to the mind behind the mani, CND’s education ambassador Heather Reynosa-Davis, to give us the step-by-step to share with your salon manicurist for terrifying tips in time for Halloween.

1.

Apply a thin layer of the Shellac Base Coat and cure for 10 seconds in the CND UV lamp. Then apply two thin layers of the CND Shellac in Wildfire, and cure each layer for two minutes.

2.

Next, apply a thin layer of the CND Shellac in Black Pool—but don’t cure it! Go back to the first nail you paint, and using a stylus, etch the letters into the wet Black Pool to reveal the layer of Wildfire underneath. Once etched, cure for two minutes.

3.

Top with a thin layer of the Shellac Top Coat, and cure for another two minutes. Wipe with 99-percent isopropyl alcohol to remove the top film and—voilà—a manicure worthy of a murder mystery. Happy Halloween!
