Cocktail Gift Basket

By  January 22, 2014

This gift is just so much better than a traditional bottle of wine. Bring your signature cocktail gift basket as a host/hostess gift around Valentine’s Day to get your friends set for a cozy, romantic night in. This basket comes complete with everything the recipient needs to create a delicious rosemary and meyer lemon French 75 cocktail—for two, that is.

Items Needed:
Tissue
Twine
Festive ribbon
Bottles
Basket
Crémant, or substitute sparkling wine
Mellow gin
Meyer lemons
Sugar
3 to 4 sprigs rosemary

1.

Make rosemary simple syrup by combining 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar and letting it boil. Let solution steep with chopped rosemary (3 to 4 sprigs) for 15 minutes. Drain rosemary and store in a covered mason jar for 1 to 2 weeks in refrigerator.

2.

Once solution is steeped, bottle it in a clear jar, tie on twine with label attached stating instructions on how to build cocktail. They should read as follows:

3.

Mix juice of 1 Meyer lemon, 1 jigger rosemary simple syrup, and 1½ jiggers gin in a shaker. Shake and strain into two champagne flutes. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with rosemary or a lemon twist.

4.

Line basket with tissue paper and toss everything in; include sparkly beverage, gin, syrup, and lemons.

5.

Final touches are decorative. Wrap basket with ribbon and include a calling card. Embossers are a great way to put your personal stamp on anything you cook or create.
