The whole concept of having a New Year’s resolution has gone from being a fun motivational tool to a well of depravation. Every one we hear about is eating less, working out more, or kicking a bad habit. Where’s the pleasure in that? Let’s start 2014 on the right foot by making our resolutions a little more enjoyable and a lot more stylish.
Toss Out the Old. The new year is all about a fresh start. It’s pretty hard to do that with last year’s baggage hanging around—literally. Set aside a day out of your schedule and devote it to your closet. Clear out the pieces that aren’t working for you and donate them to someone who could really use them.
Try New Trends. I’m all about having a signature style, but let’s face it—everyone is susceptible to a style rut. Shake things up by trying a trend that’s totally out of character. Do you always wear black? Yes? Well, buy something in a bold color and see how it makes you feel. C’mon just do it—it can be fun.

Dress for You, Not Them. We’re all guilty of this one. You try on a killer dress, and you’re ready to swipe the old credit card, then you think, He’s going to hate this. So you put it back. Forget him—make 2014 about dressing for yourself, not for him, her, or anyone else for that matter. It’s a freeing experience that shouldn’t be missed around the holidays, no matter what your friends and family might think.

Treat Yourself. Have you been drooling over an expensive pair of shoes or a fancy designer bag? Treat yourself already! (Of course, if you tend to treat yourself often and without reason, well, at least now you have a reason.) Too many women take care of the people around them and never themselves. Now is the time—and you definitely deserve it.
