Valentine Cupcake Toppers

By  January 23, 2014

Cupcakes are one of the greatest goodies to give. To spice up everyone’s favorite treat for this love-filled holiday and make them a little bit more personal, finish them off with adorable cupcake toppers. They’re easy to make, fun to get creative with, and sure to put a smile on your valentine’s face—and the best part is, you don’t even have to do any baking yourself.

Items Needed:
Valentine’s Day scrapbook paper, or colored card stock
Scissors
Toothpicks
Tape
Baker’s twine
Plastic cups

Heart Bunting

1.

Cut out five hearts in different shapes and sizes. Keep them about ½ inch to 1 inch in height, and feel free to make them imperfect to ensure a homemade feel.

2.

Take three hearts and punch tiny holes just inside top edges of each. String one piece of baker’s twine through each hole, and pull hearts close so they overlap one another.

3.

Tie each end of twine to top of a toothpick and cut most of excess string.

4.

Gently place each toothpick toward edge of cupcake.

Mini Heart Cards

1.

Take other two hearts you cut out and write a cute message on them.

2.

Tape a toothpick to back of each heart, and gently place them in cupcake.

Tip: Cupcakes fit perfectly in standard-size plastic cups you can buy at any grocery store or party supply. Transporting cupcakes in a cup not only looks cute but also keeps the frosting intact! If the cup happens to tip over midtrip, nothing gets ruined, including cupcake decorations.
