Dior Accessories For the Art Girl Within

By  June 12, 2013

Inspired by the works and wonders of Dali, Warhol, Magritte, and others, Raf Simons‘s accessories for the Dior Autumn-Winter 2014 collection draw heavily from the world of art. His source of inspiration makes perfect sense for this particular design house; Christian Dior started out as a gallery owner, naming his early works after Bernard Buffet, Pablo Picasso, and Christian Berard while Simons has admitted that “art is the centre of everything.”

The collection, titled “The Persistence of Memory” after Dali’s MoMa worthy piece from 1931, boasts both surrealist influences and pop art pieces. The Lady Dior handbag and a sleek envelope clutch feature reproductions of Andy Warhol‘s drawings of women’s shoes. As for the rest of the accessories, dreamlike symbolism is represented with eyelash rings, animal jewelry, distorted shoe designs, and bug-like sunglasses.
