Dita Von Teese Takes the Bar on the Road

Dita Von Teese has inspired countless designers, cosmetic brands, and other creative types, but now she has also become a mixology muse. Tuesday evening we joined the burlesque star at The Royalton Hotel to celebrate the launch of  My Cointreau Travel Essentials by Dita Von Teese. The luxe gift set, which retails for $399, is basically a well stocked bar on the go; it includes an essential bar spoon, two vintage-inspired glasses, a silver shaker, an atomizer, and a limited edition bottle of Cointreau packed in a retro hatbox.

Von Teese has her own holiday cocktail plans.  ”I’m going to be making the Sidecar, because I like the warmth of it and it’s pretty easy to make,” she said. “I tend to gravitate toward the classics and some of the most iconic cocktails were made with Cointreau.”
To get into the spirit of the season, mix up the evening’s signature libation which is as spicy and sweet as the woman who inspired it.

Cointreau MargaDita

• 1 oz Cointreau
• 1 oz Silver Tequila
• 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
• 1/2 oz Monin Rose Syrup
• 1 pinch Chipotle Spice

Mix all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Shake vigorously and pour into a chilled coup glass.  Garnish with a yellow rose leaf.

For an added kick, add a chipotle and salt rim.
