While we’re all about playing with our looks, we don’t feel the need to rely on our beauty to determine our path in life. Sadly the opposite seems true for young girls, as a recent Dove study found that 6 out of 10 girls avoided certain activities because they feel bad about their looks.
The beauty brand looks to reshape their perspective through its Let’s Make Girls Unstoppable campaign, which works with mothers and daughters to help boost self-esteem and redefine beauty rules. To further the message, the brand created its first Confidence Is Beautiful limited edition product collection, including shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, body wash, and bar soap. The collection will be available exclusively at Walmart, and proceeds will benefit self-esteem programs like Girls Inc., Girl Scouts of the USA, and the Boys and Girls Club of America.
As part of their efforts, Dove and its partners will host their 4th Annual Self-Esteem Weekend that kicks off October 3rd with a lighting ceremony and celebration at the Empire State Building with Global Self-Esteem Ambassador Katie Couric and Jess Weiner. Self-esteem workshops and events will follow throughout the weekend to give girls the confidence they need to break down barriers and do what they regardless of their looks.
Who said girls can’t kick butt and look good, in their own way, doing it?
