Downton Abbey Style Inspiration, and No, It’s Not Their Costume Garb

Downton-Abbey-Stars-Get-The-Look

The ladies of Downton Abbey attended a photo call in Beverly Hills August 6th to promote season 4 of the Emmy-winning British period drama series, and seeing them out of costume was a pleasant surprise. Flirty frocks, interesting patterns, and trendy styles from the late 2013 and early 2014 lines of a few forward thinking contemporary designers was the overarching theme, and each styled look was a winner. Michelle Dockery, who stars as Lady Mary Crawley, looked sharp in a black and beige Elie Saab Resort 2013 short set, and her onscreen sister, Laura Carmichael, aka Lady Edith, chose to go with neutral parings too in a black and white Moschino Cheap And Chic Resort 2014 dress with a piano key pleats.

There were two ensembles in particular, though, that we’re keen to try on our next night out. Joanne Froggatt, who plays housemaid Anna, wore a multi-colored jacquard Camilla & Marc Fall 2013 Ready to Wear dress, and while the exact fit and flare frock may be out of our reach, the look can be recreated with a similar skirt and halter top pairing. Show off your legs and keep the shoes simple with a chic black pair of pointed heels. Nailing the ensemble donned by Sophie McShera, who you may recognize as assistant cook Daisy in the show, is an even easier task. Her exact multicolored hip hugging cocktail dress is available at Zara this season. Throw on a basic pair of beige pumps and let those bold florals do the talking.
