I have a pair of shorts that have officially proven themselves as my go-to outing bottoms of the month. Mid-rise, denim shorts, to be exact. From Friday evening happy hour to Saturday brunch, they make every appearance a flawless occasion dressed up with a pair of heels and a leather tote.
Taking a break from the “swanky” life, though, I wore these shorts two days ago too to a flip-flop and messy bun fashion kind of beach excursion with friends. My look was less luxe and more laid-back sitting seaside, but these babies are just versatile like that.
I guess you can say that these aren’t just any denim cut-offs. The DSTLD [dis-til’d] Roll-Up Shorts offer untacked hems for a long or short look, easily dressed up or down. DSTLD’s newly launched shorts line offers this particular style in a beautiful indigo wash called Summer Vintage: a beautiful blue with warm golden undertones that make these closet essentials easy to pair with any hue.
I tested their stock of skinnies upon launch, which I immediately fell in love with, so it’s really no surprise that their new shorts didn’t disappoint either. With the same Dual-Flex Tencel® fabrication that got me obsessed with my original pair of DSTLD jeans, these shorts, too, are so soft and comfortable, it’s hard to believe they’re denim. I’ll be finishing out my summer in them, with cropped tanks on the weekends and blouses for more dressed up events, but don’t think you won’t see my styling them come fall. With a chunky knit sweater and my Frye engineer boots, I’ll be sporting these shorts through September as well.
