Eva Chen Outlines Her Plans for Lucky Magazine

Chen took to the magazine’s dot com to introduce herself to the readers and offer a bit of insight into how she’d like to see Lucky move forward.

After detailing her history through pre-med at Johns Hopkins, a stint at a law firm, and her beginnings in the fashion industry, Chen shared the reason she loves Lucky and how it’ll continue to distinguish itself in the future—by staying true to the initial focus of the magazine, shopping. “Today, there are more options than ever before when it comes to shopping,” she said. “You can shop in a store; you can shop online; you can shop on a blog; you can shop on your phone. Lucky is more relevant than ever because of that. We’ll definitely continue to feature a mix of high and low—that’s how I dress! That’s how real people—and all the editors at Lucky—dress.”

While the magazine will have to contend with the digital world when it comes to the fact that purchasing behavior is now a daily reality as opposed to monthly, Chen’s second focus is mixing high and low when it comes to dressing. “I also want Lucky to continue being a great source of inspiration. You might see on the runway that color-blocking navy and dark green is cool, say, but maybe you can’t afford an $1,800 bag. Well, at L.L. Bean, you can customize a boat tote in those exact colors! Lucky‘s always been a repository for little tips and surprises like that, and I want that to continue.”
