With décor plans that mimic a haunted house, a penchant for black cats, and an extensive knowledge of monster movies, to say that Halloween is my favorite holiday would be an understatement. But this year, it looks like I have competition with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.
The cult beauty brand has unleashed a limited edition collection of 4 makeup sets that curate a mix of new, resurrected favorites, and classic must-haves coordinated for either wearable or dramatic looks. The iconic Lip Tar, a nail lacquer, and two pots of pigments (both matte and glittery) comprise each of the sets, including the newbies Loose Colour Concentrate in Atlas (gilded champagne shimmer) and Just the Same Nail Lacquer (a deep blue velvet shimmer – is that a Lana del Rey cover we hear?).
To get the Halloween festivities starts, the brand will host a spooky soiree for the public at its flagship (at 174 Ludlow St.) this Friday with drag supergroup The Misfits. Even Creative Director David Klasfeld couldn’t hide his excitement about the haute Halloween spook-tacular. He said, “Working with The Misfits on this project is amazing because they’re men and women of every background and style — exactly our target audience.”
Maybe I’ll see you there, and we can party ‘til the wolves start howling!
