“The woman is incredibly important,” InStyle magazine’s managing editor Ariel Foxman told the Business of Fashion on how the glossy chooses its cover girls. “She has to be highly recognizable, well-known, well-respected. She has to resonate with a lot of people.” So who did Foxman choose to represent his book for the month of December? Jennifer Lawrence—pre-pixie cut!

The star of the Hunger Games movie trilogy talked with InStyle about her feelings towards working out, dieting and her desire to calm down for a while, which we wonder, includes her new hair cut. We can find out for sure when the issue hits newsstands on November 15th.

Academy Award nominated actress Jessica Chastian now has a little something in common with Jennifer Lawrence. The red head just landed her very first Vogue cover! Clothed in a yellow Theyskens Theory gown, Annie Leibovitz photographed the Zero Dark Thirty actress in way that draws comparisons to English painter and sculptor Frederic Leighton’s 1985 painting, Flaming June, Fashionista pointed out.

Lawrence isn’t the only Oscar winner on a December cover! Julia Roberts graces the cover of Marie Claire and inside the glossy, is talking about her desire for another. It isn’t what you think. “Listen, every actor wants to win an Oscar, full stop,” the mother of three told the magazine. “It doesn’t mean you try to design things around how to accomplish that because that’s impossible. Now that I’m a grown-up person and have things of greater value to pin my idea of joy and fullness on, if something like that were to happen again, my feeling of thrill would be defined in a completely different way.”

So, who’s up for that trip to the newsstand with us?!
