There’s something about velvet that always catches our attention. It’s edgy yet elegant, luxurious yet mod, with a rock ‘n’ roll–meets–the queen vibe we love. We can’t get enough of this fabulous fabric, and much to our delight, neither can our favorite designers-the regal, luscious material popped up all over the fall 2012 runways in February. We swooned at the velvet touches at Burberry Prorsum, from delicate fit-and-flare pencil skirts to adorable ruched velvet bow belts. Ralph Lauren created gorgeous, vibrant monochromatic suits that popped in shades of berry, one of velvet’s most flattering colors. These beautiful suits can be can be worn as separates off the runway and look glam paired with dark denim and leather boots. Kenzo added piping and a pattern to his plush velvet maxidress. Paired with leather for a tough edge or tweed for a proper vibe, velvet is the material to mix this autumn and well into the winter.
