Don’t let our title get you worried–the feminine, luxurious, and whimsical work of Alice by Temperley will still exist, the line has simply been incorporated into its mainline brand, Temperley London. ”It makes sense to provide a consistent offering under one brand, Temperley London,” Alice Temperley told British Vogue about the merging. The change is reportedly a simple solution to remove the complexities of having two labels under a single entity–it has nothing to do with pushing out the aesthetic of Alice by Temperley that younger women have come to love since its launch in 2010. ”This will make it clearer for our customers, both for retail and wholesale,” Temperley continued.
The news comes on the heels of other brand shutdowns, like the closing of Rachel Roy‘s eponymous label, and speculation that L’Wren Scott‘s line was on the way out. We don’t like losing designers, so we feel more at ease with Temperley’s explanation that the merging was simply for brand clarity, not as a result of financial reasons. If their fall and winter 2014 collection is any indication of future success, we’re guessing they’ll be more than ok. Take a look at some of the brilliant looks from the upcoming line above and see for yourself.
