Fashion Influencers Get the Disney Treatment

By  November 12, 2012

Barneys gave the world a preview of the upcoming holiday windows when the retailer announced its plans for a Disney inspired season, and now, in anticipation of Wednesday’s official unveiling, we have a second look!

Fashion influencers from Carine Roitfeld to Naomi Campbell and Lady Gaga to BryanBoy were immortalized as cartoon characters for an innovative short film, starring Minnie Mouse as she experiences the style industry through a daydream. The “Electric Holiday” video, which is set to air on the two-story ground-floor Barneys facade on Madison during the holiday season, involves Minnie and her friends in all things surrounding Paris Fashion Week. Minnie makes her way from fantasizing over a Lanvin dress while window shopping to walking through the Tuileries alongside Roitfeld. Backstage she’s touched up by Pat McGrath before strutting down the runway along with Snow White in Nina Ricci, Daisy in Dolce & Gabbana, Goofy in Balmain and Mickey Mouse in a Balenciaga. Post catwalk moment, her dream turns into reality, but a touch of fashion comes back with her in the form of a Lanvin dress.

Interestingly, each of the insiders involved in the project for Barneys New York willingly signed over the rights to their images, as well as the ability to request re-dos and re-drawings. But what’s to complain about when you’re immortalized by the great artistic talent at Disney, right?

UPDATE: At long last the full video has been released for the world to see!
