Style Scoop: Coach’s Dreamy Fall Campaign (Round 2), Romeo Beckham Scores Burberry…Again, Fashion Police Will Live On

StyleScoopSept22Coach debuted its second marketing push for the fall collection—a campaign called “Coach Dreamers.” This leg of its fall campaign, shot by Mikael Jansson, features four up-and-coming talents: singers Banks and Zoe Kravitz, Odeya Rush and Christopher Abbott. To creative director Stuart Vevers, “The ‘Coach Dreamers’ talks to a different part of our audience and says something different with the clothes.” [Glam Inbox]

It turns out that being photogenic kind of runs in the Beckham family. Son of Victoria and David Beckham, Romeo, appears in his second campaign for Burberry. A spokesperson for the brand told Fashionista that the campaign will drop in November, but remained tight-lipped about who else will co-star. [Fashionista]

E!’s Fashion Police will live on, with Joan Rivers’ legacy as its driving force. The late Rivers’ daughter, Melissa Rivers, confirmed during Fashion Police: Remembering Joan special that the show will continue. “We’re going to hit pause for a little while, but Fashion Police will be back in January,” she said. There’s no word yet on who might try to fill the irreplaceable comedian’s shoes. [Vanity Fair]

As Nicky Hilton sets off to promote her book 365 Style, the 30-year-old is unveiling a capsule collection with Canada’s eLuxe. The e-tailer manufactures products for a variety of bloggers, influences and actresses. This collection will include baby-doll dresses and body-con sheaths with mesh detail. Hilton has been designing handbags, accessories and her own fashion brand for the past 15 years. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Business of Fashion has released its list of the 500 most influential people in fashion. The list is made of up figures from all countries and all sides of the industry. Anna Wintour and Cara Delevingne might be two of the most widely-recognized name on this list, but they’ve got exceptional company in the form of executives, designers, founders and directors. The shoe designer will unveil a second capsule collection celebrating his brand’s 20th anniversary at the same time that he presents his spring-summer 2015 collection in Milan. The range will be available in December, and consists of styles dedicated to the likes of Michael Jackson, Christophe Decarnin (former Balmain creative director) and, you guessed it, Kim Kardashian West. British crooner Sam Smith kicked off his 2014 North American tour, throughout which he will be clad in custom Calvin Klein suits. The singer’s looks will be inspired by his style mantra: “Simple, classic and timeless.” If you’re planning on seeing him perform, don’t be surprised if he reminds you of a certain singer named Frank Sinatra—Smith cites him as his fashion icon. Well, is it true? Kendall Jenner—we mean, Kendall posted a photo on Instagram accompanied by the caption “you can’t sit with us.” As any self-respecting female millennial knows, this quote is from Mean Girls, which Jenner cryptically referenced as a result of swirling rumors that she was bullied backstage during Fashion Week. Anja Rubik is the face of Forever 21′s The Outerwear Edit, a fall campaign featuring the retailer’s outerwear collection. The collection focuses on four key trends, including oversized, luxe boho, minimalist and textured incorporating trenches, faux furs and soft weaters in an array of lengths and color palette of camels, pale pinks and prints. Alibaba, essentially the Chinese version of eBay, made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange Friday morning after pricing shares at $68 a piece Thursday night. Shares in Alibaba opened almost 30% higher this morning. Its IPO of $21.8 billion makes it the highest-valued internet company at the time of its public debut, surpassing the $17.8 billion raised by Visa’s 2008 IPO and Facebook’s $16 billion in 2012, making it the biggest U.S. IPO in history. Narciso Rodriguez Is Honored as Vanidades’ 2014 Iconic Man of Style

NarcisoRodriguezIconsAfter seeing his Spring/Summer 2015 collection at New York Fashion Week, there’s no doubt in our mind that Narciso Rodriguez is an “Icon of Style.” At Thursday evening’s Icons of Style Awards hosted by Vanidades magazine, Rodriguez was granted the highest honor for his outstanding contributions to the fashion landscape.

Notable guests including Rita Moreno (recipient of Iconic Woman of Style Lifetime Achievement Award), Thalía (recipient of Icon of Style Award for Music & Entertainment), Maria Cornejo, Catherine Malandrino and Selenis Leyva of Orange is the New Black helped celebrate the designer and other honorees over cocktails and seated dinner reception. We got a few words in with the (incredibly humble) man of the hour, whose take on fashion is refreshing and honest.

What do you do when New York Fashion Week is over? Uhh…collapse! We usually work for a month—six weeks—every day, night and day. It’s stressful hours, so when you’re finished you just need to sit down. I had a weekend and then we got right back on it. We launched a new fragrance yesterday, which was a huge event and preparing the next collection already. We never stop.

What sort of “goal” do you have in mind when you set out to design a collectionLately, the goals have changed for me. I want to create pieces that are incredibly desirable and covetable. I want to create things that every woman, no matter what age or body type says, “I want that, I love that, I need that.” I think those are the things that designers create that are the most influential because they’re the ones that create the most emotion.

Why is this this shift from aspirational to attainable fashion happening? Fashion and the beauty of fashion is that it’s always shifting. Sometimes it’s for the young, sometimes it’s more for an elegant, older woman. Sometimes it’s for the lady, sometimes it’s attainable, sometimes it’s aspirational—but it’s always exciting. And that is the part of fashion that we all love.

Animal Print Problems: 5 Tips For Styling Spots and Stripes

At least one animal print piece should be in every Glam girl’s closet. Whether you’re the cheetah or tiger type, jungle patterns will add flair to you fashion without looking overly trendy. Now, for the love of leopard, follow these tips and get styling on those stripes and spots this season!

1. Mix animal print into your cocktail style attire. We promise it won’t look costume-y if you do it right. A wild print on a proper piece of clothing becomes toned down enough to wear to a fancier affair. Such pieces include classic pointed pumps, a sleek clutch, or a tailored coat. Choose one to accessorize a little black dress or a chic monochrome pantsuit and you can’t go wrong.

2. Utilize an animal print accessory to bring a touch of sass to an otherwise neutral ensemble. Think about the instant upgrade your basic tee and jeans outfit would get from a zebra print cap or a tiger tote. This effortlessly cool touch is the answer to take your basic daily wear from ordinary to extraordinary every time.

3. Allow animal print to bring out your wild side in the appropriate occasions. A night out on the town with friends calls for style with a statement making factor–and animal print does just that. Mix it into your outfit alongside another adventurous piece, like a graphic tee, a head turning pair of heels, a cool collar necklace…you get the picture. Keep in mind, though, while we love a bold look, looking looney is not the fashion statement we’re going for. To keep from going overboard, build your look off the animal print piece you’ll be wearing. Stick to like colors and an overarching theme.

4. Regard leopard as a neutral. This animal print is such a classic, that we rarely look twice when it’s incorporated alongside another pattern, like plaid or florals. Stick to similar color tones though, and choose neutral colors for the other pieces of your ensemble.

5. Brave the animal print trend full-on. Skip the spotty accessories and instead go bold by coordinating zebra print separates or wearing a full on cheetah print dress. Just break it up with solid colored details and subtle accessories and make sure the pieces aren’t too tight–animal print is sexy and wild without having to be hip hugging too.

Rebecca Minkoff Teams Up With A Pea in the Pod

Never one to scale back on style because of her growing belly, Minkoff had plenty of personal inspiration for her capsule collection with A Pea in the Pod. Minkoff, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, said, “I know how difficult it can be to dress and feel like yourself during your pregnancy. Your body is going through so many changes, that the last thing you want is to look in the mirror and hate your outfit.”

Mommies-to-be can now rest assured that they’ll have ample stylish maternity designs to sport at every stage of pregnancy, and for any occasion. Minkoff was pregnant during the collaboration so she was able to “tweak the designs,” to make sure the fit was just right. Boots just might be the most exciting thing to happen to fall, ever. Sure fall has many other incredible offerings but boots, boots are magical. Not only are they stylish but they are much for comfortable than say a strappy summer sandal. It’s easy to get swept up in the new season shopping hype, which can often result in buying all of the boots. Even with me being a huge shoe lover, I would hate to see anyone break the bank and go over budget. So I’ve narrowed things down a bit and have chosen four must-have boot styles that you need this fall.

Motorcycle Boots 

Don’t think that you have to be a rebel or hang out in a biker bar to rock a moto boot. Sure motorcycle boots can give edgy girls even more edge, but they can also toughen up even the most feminine of dress without looking ridiculous. Yes, sometimes girly-girls need a bit of grit in their wardrobes too.

Over-the-Knee Boots

Over-the-knee and thigh-high boots are the ultimate statement shoe and they keep your legs warm! Don’t think you have to be some vampy-vixen to rock these boots either. A flat pair of extra tall boots are stylish and very appropriate for more casual occasions.

Style Scoop: Dolce & Gabbana’s Love Letter, & Other Stories Calls on Garance Dore, Club Monaco Launches “The Pieces”

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are far from strangers, and definitely have been more than pen pals in the 30 years since they started their eponymous label. But that didn’t stop Gabbana from penning an open love letter to Dolce because “I have never written you a letter before. Perhaps because between there has never been a need to many words.” The letter was published in Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera as a part of The Festival of Letters that is currently taking place in Milan. While you wait for their Milan show to debut, it’s worth a read. [Vogue]

As the sister brand to H&M, & Other Stories is soon to step on the New York fashion scene and make a major splash. While Swedish singer Lykke Li and stylist Ada Kokosar have already collaborated with the brand, we’re really excited about Garance Doré’s involvement with the brand. The photographer and illustrator photographed pieces from & Other Stories to celebrate the Soho shop’s grand opening on October 17. [Refinery 29]

Club Monaco introduces an accessories line today called The Pieces. Inspired by the jewelry and bags Club Monaco designers would wear, the collection is curated from new and innovative designers around the world. British online and catalogue retailer Boden is making an editorial push with a new digital platform called The Great Boden Diaries. The site (boden.co.uk/diaries) will spotlight content written by Boden’s editor, touching on style and culture inspiration and interviews with creative. Lifestyle bloggers are also contributing to the site, which was driven by customers’ reaction to “real women” in its designs. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo will begin offering fellowships to Japanese students studying at Harvard Business School and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. The funds will come from Uniqlo and from a personal donation by Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Uniqlo’s parent company Fast Retailing. According to Yanai, “innovation lies at the intersection of design and business management. I look forward to seeing talent young people from Japan transform their aspirations into reality on the global stage.” [Women’s Wear Daily]
