Stella x Kate, Take Seven

By  July 24, 2014

mccartney-moss-02

Stella McCartney and Kate Moss are proving that seven is the luckiest number of all with the designer’s Winter 2014 ad campaign. This is the seventh time Moss has stepped in front of the camera for Paul McCartney’s daughter.

“Kate epitomizes the Stella McCartney woman and I wanted to capture her dreams and the moments we have shared over the years,” McCartney said in a press release. “I wanted to escape into something surreal this season and fashion should make us dream, sometimes.”

The images revolve the idea of Kate dreaming with combines impressions of Stella’s uncompromising ethos on the environment. The designer styled her model in “sophisticated do-it-yourself looks against landscapes of glaciers, forests, and the cosmos.”

In addition to the campaign running in the likes of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Elle and V, there is a mood film for us to devour. Dig into it below!

Style Scoop: Massaro Pops Up In Paris, Buy A Ticket To Fashion Week’s Front Row, Conde Nast Heads South, But Not Alone

By  July 24, 2014

ScoopMassaroRiMassaro, which belongs to Chanel and is responsible for the couture house’s pe(arl)fect footwear, set up a pop-up store at 16 Rue Cambon. The boutique is just a short distance from Chanel’s home base and will be open through January 2015. If you find yourself nearby and want to pop in for a visit, expect to see a limited edition collection designed by Maison Masaro’s master cobbler Philippe Atienza in tandem with Laurence Dacade (Chanel’s footwear director). So, we suggest you lace up your sneaks, run on over, and exchange them for some decked out with those wildly coveted C’s. [WWD]

How badly do you want to sit front row next to Rihanna and friends at Fendi, Prada, Miu Miu and Giorgio Armani Fashion Week shows? Just how bad, you say? Well, for a cool $10,000 (at least), you can. The Watermill Center Summer Auction is selling off two Fashion Week packages to help fund its Hamptons gallery where artists can exhibit for free. There are even “buy it now” options for those who just can’t let the opportunity pass them by—if they’re willing to spend $95,000 on the Milan package and $25,000 for the Miu Miu show. But then again, maybe its best to save the money for the actual clothes when you want to buy those, too. [Vogue UK]

Now that Condé Nast is headed south, its favorite hotspots are following suit. As Condé publishers, editors and executives relocate to 1 World Trade Center, the places they frequent—think: the Lamb’s Club, Tenoverten, DryBar, Equinox and Saks—see more than enough reason to go with them. Plenty are looking into real estate that’s within walking distance from Condé Nast’s new home simply because that’s where their more loyal and high-profile clients will be. Nothing says, “Where Anna goes, we go,” quite like that. [NYTimes]

Dior is sponsoring the Guggenheim International Gala for the second year. The two-night event will take place on November 5 and 6 in New york, and will honor artists Carrie Mae Weems, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and Gunther Uecker. The “GIG” will feature a performance by The xx and is sure to be a glamorous event. [WWD]

Best Friends Forever: Stella McCartney enlisted her best friend Kate Moss to star in a new video for her brand’s Fall 2014 campaign. It’s called “Kate Dreams,” and the film accompanies a print advertising campaign. With a surreal aesthetic, dreamy colors and natural backdrops, “Kate epitomizes the Stella McCartney woman, and I wanted to capture her dreams and the moments we shared over the years,” according to McCartney. All together now: aww! [Harper’s Bazaar]

Big news for California-based jewelry designer, Maya Brenner! Her fine jewelry collection is now available at J. Crew, and we can’t wait to get our hands on these dainty jewels. The letter necklace is perfect by itself or among a pile of other necklaces, and the lovely little earrings call for a chic mis-matched stud situation. [Glam Inbox]

Style Snaps: July 24, 2014

By  July 24, 2014

BehatiEditpostEvery day, we bring you celebrity sightings and stylings as seen everywhere from the streets to the red carpet. Whether they’re dolled up or dressed down, we can’t resist the need to know who wore what.

Looks like marriage isn’t the only exciting thing happening in model Behati Prinsloo‘s life. The Victoria’s Secret Angel graces the pages of Net-a-Porter.com’s digital magazine, THE EDIT in luxe pre-fall 70s-inspired pieces. Sporting fringy bangs and plenty of fur and jewelry, Prinsloo talks about her rock n’ roll lifestyle, and what it’s like to walk down a runway in your underwear (unfortunately, there’s not too much scoop about what it’s like to experience wedded bliss with Adam Levine). Of the VS fashion show backstage area, she says, “All the girls are doing squats backstage!” Wouldja believe it?!

Hermès Welcomes Nadège Vangee-Cybulski

By  July 24, 2014

NadegeHermesIn the latest round of Fashion Musical Chairs, Hermès said goodbye to one artistic director and hello to another. Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski will follow in the footsteps of Christophe Lemaire as artistic director for women’s ready-to-wear at Hermès.

As we reported on Monday, French designer Lemaire left the brand after four years in order to focus his efforts on his signature label. His last collection for Hermès is slated to show in Paris on October 1. After that, Vanhee-Cybulski, who’s a veteran of Maison Martin Margiela, The Row, and Céline, will lend her extraordinary talents to the iconic brand.

“Her talent and her creative track record will be great assets in the continued development of women’s ready-to-wear. She will devote herself full-time to our house,” Axel Dumas, chief executive officer of Hermès, said. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing what happens when Vanhee-Cybulski takes those orange reigns.

Style Scoop: Vogue Still Rules… and So Does Anna Wintour, Welcome to the Blakery

By  July 23, 2014

vogue-september-issue

Vogue’s September issue is still the biggest in the land. Last year the Conde Nast publication boasted of 661 pages—making it the actual weight of the bible—and this year, when the issue hits newsstands it will weigh in with 631 pages. Not as big as last year’s issue, but certainly still impressive. Lucky and Teen Vogue weren’t as, well, lucky. Each publication’s September pages declined by 33.9% and 34.3% respectively. [Fashionista]

Speaking of Conde Nast, Anna Wintour is not only the company’s creative director across all their titles, as of today, she is editorial director as well! In a memo circulating Conde Nast CEO Chuck Townsend wrote, “as strategic leadership changes we are making as part of a succession plan we started early this year,” [Wintour] “will ensure that our content and culture remain at the forefront of our industry. [President Bob Sauerberg] and I will rely on her for her insights and guidance as we build the team that will lead us into the future.” [Daily Intelligencer]

Blake Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynold, calls his home ‘The Blakery” because his wife bakes so often. Vogue spent 73 questions with Preserve’s founder where she shared that she prefers cupcakes to cake, would love to live in Paris and the movie she laughed the hardest through. [The Scene]

Britney Spears is not that innocent. In fact, the singer is launching a new line of lingerie called The Intimate Collection. She shared a sneak peak of what’s to come on Twitter and Instagram. The collection will include comfy camisoles and sheer separates. [The Huffington Post]

This man deserves a cookie! An apparently very bored 27-year-old French boyfriend created a 9-minute 21-second video that splices together all of the brands mentioned over the course of the Sex and the City’s six seasons. All. Of. Them. Is that amazing or what? [Glamour]

eBay Helps Young British Designers

By  July 23, 2014

ay_1184159461

eBay is really trying to make their mark in the fashion industry—perhaps in an effort to move away from that pesky counterfeit settlement with LVMH?

In any event, this is big news. eBay is teaming up with the British Fashion Council to create BFC Contemporary, “an initiative aimed at helping fashion designers in the contemporary segment of the market with mentorship, strategy and commercial opportunities.”

“Each of the inaugural BFC Contemporary designers possess incredible creativity and strong brand concepts,” said Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC. “These designers mark a new wave in British contemporary design, the rise of which we aim to fuel with this new initiative.”

Alexis Barrell, Georgia Hardinge, Paper London, Prism and Zoë Jordan are the inaugural BFC Contemporary class and will have their business plans, collection plans, pricing, on and offline presence examined by members of the BFC and eBay’s head of fashion brands Melanie Smallwood. Each designer will also undergo bespoke mentoring sessions.

The designers will create a limited-edition piece that will be sold at the BFC Contemporary shop in September on eBay.co.uk.

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 Releases Capitol Couture 'Living Portraits'

By  July 23, 2014

hunger-games-living-portraits

Talk about white hot! Capitol Couture is giving Hunger Games fans a closer look at the style of the Quarter Quell victors Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason.

The imprisoned pair is presented as living portraits in the movie’s online fashion magazine with the same clean, minimalist aesthetic of President Snow’s sinister public address to Panem. Mason (Jena Malone) showcases her  “Statuesque Allure” in a sculptural Alon Livne gown that “juxtaposes the flowing drapery of classic statuary while the super modern and sculptural iridescent white bodice references the branch motif of the Panem Seal.”

The striking look was paired with Alexander Wang heels and hand-carved marble bangle by Chen Chen and Kai Williams. Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) channels his Spirit of Strength in an Unconditional matte leather suit with Maison Martin Margiela shirt and shoes. The look is completed with a paper collar piece by David Mason, which takes the similar artistic elements of Mason’s dress.

These living portraits arrive mere days before the debut of the first full trailer from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part I that will be unveiled on July 25 at Comic Con. The features also serve as a way of dangling the two prisoners as bait to draw the District 13 rebels out of hiding. We wonder how much longer Katniss and her revolutionary crew will wait to rescue the Quarter Quell winners.

Beyoncé Channels Rosie The Riveter

By  July 23, 2014

BeyonceRosieRiveterQueen Bey is the latest celebrity to embody World War II’s iconic Rosie the Riveter, and we have to say she pulls it off quite well. Beyoncé flaunted a nicely toned bicep in the photo (if you’ve seen “On The Run,” you know is only indicative of how incredible the the rest of her body looks), which she posted to her Instagram on Tuesday. From the knotted red bandana to the badass smirk, Beyoncé hit all the right notes with this photo. Could this be a response to rumors that she and hubby Jay-Z are getting divorced, which have been swirling for a few days, now? Perhaps time will tell, but for now, we’re loving seeing Bey enjoy her time “On The Run” by flexing her feminist muscles and paying tribute to the original “Independent Woman.”

Naya Rivera Wed Ryan Dorsey In Cabo

By  July 23, 2014

NayaRiveraWedSurprise! Naya Rivera is a married woman! The Glee star married actor Ryan Dorsey on July 19 in Cabo San Lucas, in front of a small group of close family, People.com reports. “We feel truly blessed to be joined as husband and wife,” the pair told People. “Our special day was fated and everything we could have ever asked for.” Rivera and Dorsey met in Los Angeles and became friends four years ago. Their relationship blossomed shortly after Rivera ended her engagement to rapper Big Sean in April.

The bride wore a lace Monique Lhuillier gown, and the groom wore a Dolce & Gabbana suit. Her bouquet consisted of daisies and babies breath, and the couple exchanged Neil Lane rings. Congratulations to the beautiful couple!
