By  January 27, 2015

StyleScoopJan27Move over, Cara Delevingne! Georgia May Jagger makes her first appearance as the face of Mulberry in the brand’s spring 2015 campaign, shot by Inez & Vinoodh. Couture week has kicked off in Paris with houses like Dior, Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Atelier Versace making a splash on the runway. Karl Lagerfeld staged a magic garden, complete with floral-inspired wares and a male “gardener” who walked the runway with a watering can, while Raf Simons’ Dior collection was inspired by David Bowie and used plastic in the clothing’s construction. Unsurprisingly, Schiaparelli’s Jean-Paul Goude-designed set provided a shocking pink backdrop to a surrealism-laden runway show. At Atelier Versace, womanly curves took center stage with dresses featuring swirling insets of nude mesh. [Style.com]

Naomi Campbell shared her thoughts on the newest generation of supermodels, which Vogue dubbed “Instagirls”—and it’s not all unicorns and rainbows. On the Meredith Vieira Show, she said, “I mean, good luck to them. I just feel like my generation of women—like, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Claudia [Schiffer]—we had to earn our stripes and take our stepping stones to get to where we have to accomplish what we have achieved to this date. I kind of feel like, ‘My God, we’ve worked so hard, and we are still working at it.’ Then it just comes like that for them, but I sometimes believe easy come, easy go.”  [The Cut]

Gap-operated retailer Piperlime is set to shut down its online operation as well as its brick and mortar boutique come spring. The announcement follows the site’s relaunch, a redesigned logo, and the introduction of an in-house label. They even tapped influencers like Olivia Palermo, Chrissy Teigen, Poppy Delevingne, and Clare Vivier to offer style tips and curate merchandise. [Fashion Week Daily]

Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte teamed up with Superga to launch a new sneaker collaboration called, simply, Rodarte x Superga. Best Dressed at the 2015 SAG Awards

By  January 26, 2015

EmmaStonepost

We love to see a little edge on the red carpet, and Emma Stone really turned it out at the 2015 SAG Awards on Sunday night (making us extremely excited to see what she has in store for the Oscars). Helping her out was Julia Roberts in a tuxedo-inspired jumpsuit that she pulled off flawlessly. As with any awards show, there were plenty of bombshells and beauties in attendance, but these are the handful that caught our eye.

Oh, So Glam: J.Crew's New Jewelry Line

By  January 26, 2015

Have you taken a peek at J.Crew’s latest jewelry collection? I have to admit, it had been a while since I browsed their selection, as historically, I’ve associated J.Crew with the showier, bright statement jewelry that’s not necessarily a fit for everyday. Recently though, they’ve been debuting many pieces that are a lot more toned down and could be worn to the office, on a date, and beyond. I was especially taken with their collection of simple, minimalistic shapes that had shape angles and a super geometric vibe. What do you think? Could you see yourself adding any of these to your collection?

My Boyfriend's Closet: Tighty Whitey

By  January 23, 2015

Let’s talk underwear. Men get shorts – loose, tight and all different versions of white cotton. And what do we get? Thongs. That’s right, thongs. Why is it that in all sartorial related realms, men have it easier? If you ask us, Calvin Klein has been doing it right all along. Women in boy shorts. Sexy and comfortable. We call that a win, win and the ultimate score from the male closet.

Just call us Kate Moss, because we’ll be spending our weekend lounging around the house in a pair of these:

1. Calvin Klein Modern Cotton Boy Shorts, $22
2. Splendid Essential Boy Shorts, $30
3. Gap Floral-trim Girlshorts, $13

Sheer Perfection: Styling See-Through For Winter

By  January 23, 2015

sheer-perfection

With chilly winds a winter staple, the mere thought of wearing sheer this season can make a girl shiver. Why would we invite the cold to touch our skin via see-through inserts and such? Isn’t that just plain foolishness?

Yes, and no, fierce-fashionista. Depends on how your don it. Elie Saab, Givenchy, Delpozo, Marc Jacobs, and Valentino all brought organza, mesh, and more gauzy garbs down the winter 2014 runway, so we’re following in their footsteps. We’re here with five examples of how you can actually make sheer styles work for winter, all thanks to a little layering, some unique pieces, and a creative style-eye.

Style Scoop: Cara Delevingne Revamps Tag Heuer, VS Pink's Date Bra, C. Wonder Files For Bankruptcy

By  January 23, 2015

StyleScoopJan23In a surprising move, Tag Heuer tapped Cara Delevingne for its latest campaign push. Following in the wakes of celebrity ambassadors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Lewis Hamilton, and Maria Sharapova, it’s clear that Delevingne is bringing something different to the brand, which has revived its “#DontCrackUnderPressure” tagline. “We needed someone disruptive yet elevant like Cara to open our minds to the brashness and boldness of today’s youth,” said CEO Jean-Claude Biver. “Tag Heuer has set its sights on ‘It-ness,’ and Cara is just the person to help us get there.” [Women’s Wear Daily]

In time for Valentine’s Day, Victoria’s Secret PINK has a brand-new bra dedicated to the best dates ever. Just a few days into 2015, C. Wonder announced that it’d be closing all its stores—and on Thursday, the company filed for bankruptcy in New Jersey. According to a statement, a “combination of market pressures and mounting operating costs” led the brand to seek Chapter 11 protection. The e-commerce site has shut down, but the four NYC-area stores remain open in order to liquidate all inventory. [Fashionista]

Karl Lagerfeld revealed a striking ad campaign for his spring 2015 collection, featuring Kendall Jenner. The model of the moment poses in the “Karl is Kolor” campaign alongside Ming XiSasha Luss, and Baptiste Giabiconi in a series of all black-and-white photos. Appropriately, the brightly colored handbags and accessories remain in color, taking center stage in the ads. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Beyoncé does not appreciate cheesy plays on her name. Queen Bey caught wind of mugs featuring the word “Feyoncé,” which were being sold to recently-engaged couples on Etsy—and she was not happy. Her lawyers sent a letter to the crafting website telling them to back off. Needless to say, you can’t buy them anymore, but other “Feyoncé” items are still on sale. [TMZ]

Jean-Paul Goude has designed the set for Schiaparelli’s couture shows in Paris, which take place on Monday. The photographer (who most recently and notoriously captured Kim Kardashian’s #BreakTheInternet moment for Paper Magazine) has a personal connection to the house via his mother, who was always talking about it. Vince Camuto passed away Wednesday at age 78 at his home in Greenwich, Conn. after a battle with cancer. Camuto was one of the founders of the Nine West footwear line, along with his former business partner, Jerome Fisher. Andre Leon Talley will pay homage to legendary designer Oscar de la Renta in an exhibition at the SCAD Museum of Art. The exhibit will include 70 de la Renta ensembles, including designs he made for Nicole Kidman, Taylor Swift, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and Sarah Jessica Parker. For Talley, the project was “a work of joy and wonderful pleasure because Oscar was a very close friend of mine and also a mentor.” The exhibit opens February 5. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Remember when Topshop sold a T-shirt with Rihanna’s picture on it and she took them to court? Well, Britain’s Court of Appeal confirmed an earlier decision that the retailer did, in fact, infringe on the singer’s rights by selling a T-shirt with her photo on it. The reasoning was that that “the item was damaging to Rihanna’s ‘goodwill’ and represented a loss of control over her reputation in the ‘fashion sphere.’” [Women’s Wear Daily]

10 Not-So-Neutral Pieces to Add to Your Winter Wardrobe

By  January 21, 2015

NotSoNeutralPost

Winter dressing might be all about piling on the basics in the interest of keeping warm, but sometimes it’s easy to get lost in all those boring layers. In the interest of spicing things up a bit this season (in more ways than one), consider picking up a few pieces that are simultaneously warm and eye-catching. Work these babies in with the rest of your already well-established winter wardrobe, and you won’t have to worry about blending into the background of city streets full of puffer jackets and snow boots.
