EditorsPickChloeEver since ballet flats became a thing, I’ve been wearing them. Maybe it has to do with my passion for dance, or perhaps it’s just my love of sartorial simplicity. Either way, ballet flats have always been a staple of mine.

Of course, with every flat shoe comes another set of complaints. But after endless amounts of blisters and plenty of scratched-up heels, I’ve finally found the ballet flat to end all ballet flats. My nude Chloé flats are seriously the perfect shoe: the dainty scalloped edges make them totally feminine, but the neutral hue and impossibly soft leather keep them practical. Needless to say, I wear them with anything, for any occasion—that being said, I protect them against all things dirty, wet or otherwise threatening. They are just too precious.

Certainly, my Chloé babies are one item in my closet that I know I’ll never get sick of, and they’re just about the most comfortable flats I’ve ever worn. Beyond that, they’re simple, chic and understated, which is how I tend to dress and accessorize—surely, it won’t surprise you to learn that they’re actually called the “Lauren.” Someone very wise said, “if the shoe fits…buy it in every color,” and I think I just might. -Lauren Kaplan

The two arrived at Lincoln Center on Monday evening for their live performance of “Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek Live.” The pair will be releasing a collaborative jazz album, also called Cheek to Cheek, to be released this fall. Something tells us that this might, in fact, be an incredible musical match.

Baubles, baubles, baubles rockin’ everywhere–especially now that the online jewelry retailer has raised $10 million in their latest round of funding! The funding round was led mostly by Chris Burch and Burch Creative Capital, you know, Tory Burch’s ex-husband and brand co-founder. He’s had quite a bit of experience considering he’s the founder of C. Wonder, an investor in Bib + Tuck, Trendabl, and Vaunte. “He definitely brings something new to the table in terms of experience and expertise,” BaubleBar co-founder Daniella Yacobovsky said. “The folks he’s capable of connecting us to… we’re just starting to chat with his network.” [Fashionista]

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Blake Lively didn’t give us a peek at her wedding dress on her new lifestyle site, Preserve. In an introductory video on the site, the actress spliced together clips of people fulfilling their dreams. There was a woman featured in the video wearing a gown that resembled Lively’s  custom Marchesa wedding gown, leading viewers to speculate if it was the actress on her special day. Sorry, it’s not. “The video that Blake put up is not Blake and that’s not her wedding dress,” a rep said. “It is a beautiful dress though!” [US Weekly]

Rue La La has Gilt Groupe’s eye and apparently the latter is looking to acquire the former. Rue La La is priced around $400 million and JPMorgan Chase & Co is reportedly on tap to advise a potential sale. In 2008, e-commence and marketing services company GSI Commerce acquired Rue La La for $350 million and three years later eBay purchased the flash sale site. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Madewell denim is, well, made well. To prove it, J.Crew’s sister retailer is showing the proper way to wear their 47 new styles of denim they’re offering this fall with instructions like slip, zip, turn, and most importantly, prepare for compliments. [The Cut]

Meet Jen7, the Latest from 7 For All Mankind

The denim experts at 7 For All Mankind are launching a new line, Jen7, developed to appeal to sophisticated, self-assured modern women.

According to the brand, the collection is for the new wave of fashion-conscious customers who want to merge luxury and casual attire. “This is a brand by women for women,” said Peggi Jewell, Vice President of Product. “Jen7 is the only jean this woman will ever need. She was our first customer and it’s about time that a pair of jeans is designed specifically for her. She’s worth it.”

I used to be a big fan of hoop earrings, but when statement necklaces and arm parties became the trend of the moment, I put away my hoops in favor of dainty studs. It’s all about balance, in jewelry and in life.

These days, my wrists are generally free of adornment, save for a black hair tie used for evenings at the gym, staying true to my #HealthyObsessions. As for my necklace of choice, I’ve opted for a simple initial chain from Maya Brenner for the past three years, gifted to me by a close friend. Given my minimal accessories, I figured it was time to dive back into the earring waters and find a new pair of hoops to love.

I quickly fell for a thin gold pair that easily made their way into my every day attire. I knew these gold hoops would quickly become a staple in my outfits in the city, but they surprised me even more on a recent trip to Montauk. Though I’m not usually one to opt for beach jewelry, unlike my counterpart, Nola, I wore my gold hoops to the beach for a lazy Sunday afternoon of lounging. I quickly found (thanks to this selfie) just how well they paired with my new Triangl bikini, bronze tan thanks to a summer of #Wanderlust, and that staple necklace. Get Carried Away with Cynthia Rowley

Cynthia Rowley is quickly becoming our go-to designer for all things chic and sporty.

So luckily for us, today Women’s Wear Daily reported that the designer signed a licensing agreement with Highline United for a collection of women’s contemporary handbags, making their debut Spring 2015.

Her initial offerings will boast a collection of minaudieres, satchels, totes, and backpacks priced $175 to $450.

“I’m thrilled to now be able to offer handbags that have the same pretty and sporty attributes as our apparel collection,” Rowley told WWD. This collection is a first for Highline United, too.

“We wanted Cynthia Rowley as our first handbag designer because of the exciting prints and innovative materials she uses in her women’s ready-to-wear collection,” said the company’s president Kenny Horowitz.

Cynthia, we can’t wait to get carried away with you!

Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing is in the new wave of designers that embrace Zara and pop culture. “I’m really happy that Balmain is copied–when I did my Miami collection and we did the black and white checks, I knew they would be in Zara and H&M. But they did it in a clever way – they mixed a Céline shape with my Balmain print! Well done! I love that.”

Oh, and you heard it here first: singers are the new supermodels. “”When you look at an old Versace show, you loved the dress, but you loved Claudia Schiffer, you loved Cindy Crawford. Supermodels! With Rihanna you get that too. Today people are looking at Rihanna like they were looking at Naomi Campbell or Claudia… nobody wants to be a model, everybody wants to be a singer. Surfboardt, surfboardt. Anna Sui is teaming up with O’Neill to debut a 16-piece collection in April 2015, inspired by the Laurel Canyon from the 60s and 70s. “I have always been drawn toward the California free-spirited lifestyle, which is at the core of the O’Neill brand,” Sui said. “My Bohemian style translates into their surf culture and sportswear perfectly.” The collection will also feature Sui’s signature butterfly motif. Shoe lovers, welcome to mecca. Harrods will unveil at 42,square-foot suited dubbed, Harrods Shoe Heaven on August 1.  The area will sell shoes from fashion heavyweights like Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Chanel, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, and Valentino. “It’s the biggest project we have ever done at Harrods in terms of capital expenditure,” said Helen David, the store’s fashion director of women’s wear, accessories, fine jewelry and children’s wear. “Every department store worth its salt has a high-end department for [footwear], and this is how Harrods does a shoe hall.” [Women’s Wear Daily]

Edie Campbell only agreed to walk in Marc Jacob’s final show for Louis Vuitton—nearly nude—because she had a few drinks. “I had quite a few mojitos by that point so I was just agreeing to anything,” the model said. “They said, ‘Perfect! Come to studio tomorrow so we can fit your jeweled thong’… I was exhausted—I’d had about six hours’ sleep in three days—and I couldn’t sit down while I was being painted.
