A pregnant Middleton attended the Action on Addiction Gala dinner at L’Anima in London wearing a skin-baring, yet tasteful, black frock. Ladies, take note: if you’re going for cutoutsthis is how you really do it.

Editor’s Pick: Pack it Up in the Dagne Dover Mini Tote

By  October 24, 2014

Discover your next obsession with our Editor’s Pick series, must-have products for your home, wardrobe, makeup bag, and office curated by Glam editors.

Dagne Dover

The one thing I don’t want to be called in New York City is a bag lady; but the one thing I’m not going to do is leave an essential at home.

When I head out every morning, I know there’s no coming back—if my agenda calls for work, #gymflow, happy hour, or covering a star-studded event, I’m going to need the tablet, athletic gear, lipstick, and heels to carry me beyond the 9-to-5. But hauling a hefty purse/tote/gym bag combo is not conducive to flexing on the ‘Gram. So, when it comes to balancing it all, Dagne Dover is my go-to.

The Dagne Dover Mini Tote keeps my must-haves on deck and preserves order in an otherwise messy place. Let’s face it—digging into the bottomless pit of your bag to find a business card or pen isn’t fun, especially at the expense of keeping your cool. With it’s no-fuss structure and compartments for every pretty girl vice, the Dagne Dover Mini Tote makes sure I keep it together at all times.

That Dagne Dover mantra is personified with large canvas totes, mini totes, and clutch wallets that, miraculously, have space—and a place!—for everything. Its aesthetic rivals luxury, high fashion bags and represents the intersection of where fashion and functionality meet. Best of all, each design is priced between $165 and $345, so you’ll never fall victim to splurging on that seasonal It-bag. That is something this Glam girl can be glad about.

Style Scoop: Peter Copping Assures Us ODLR Is In Good Hands, Cushnie et Ochs to Receive Honor, Christian Siriano Judges Project Runway: THREADS

By  October 24, 2014

StyleScoopOct24At the Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars, all eyes were on Peter Copping, the successor of Oscar de la Renta. Regarding his new appointment as creative director of the house, Copping said, “I think I’m a good fit…and I think that’s why Oscar chose me as his successor. I think it’s in good hands. Oscar and I were very much into the same aesthetic on a lot of levels, whether it’s homes, or gardens, or fashion…I think there are a lot of parallels. I like a very sophisticated woman, I like elegance. I think it’s still about taking the house forward. I think that’s what Oscar would have thought as well.” [The Cut]

Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs will be honored at the 17th annual dinner and auction benefiting the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. The event will be held on December 4 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York and more than 1,200 guests are expected to attend. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Christian Siriano’s new Lifetime show, hosted by Vanessa Simmons, premiered on Thursday night. Project Runway: THREADS is a competition series showcasing America’s most talented young designers. Based on the original Project Runway, each week features three new contestants who will complete challenges in hopes of winning $10,000 to be used at any Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts Store, a scholarship to the summer program at FIDM and a top-of-the-line sewing and embroidery studio. Kelly Osbourne, Jaime King and Zendaya are slated to make guest appearances. [Glam Inbox]

Cameron Diaz’s second collection for Pour La Victoire is a mix of sporty and feminine for spring 2015. The New York-based brand incorporated mesh, neon and gold accents into the collection, which ranges in price from $195 to $425. The collection will sell at Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and Shopbop.com. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Anna Kendrick is a Kate Spade girl. The actress will star as the face of the brand’s holiday campaign and will act as the muse for Kate Spade New York’s “The Year of Adventure” campaign. As part of the new partnership, Kendrick will collaborate on original content for the brand including films, online editorial features and social media campaigns. [Glam Inbox]

Oscar de la Renta will be laid to rest on November 3 in a private funeral mass at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola at Park Avenue and 84th Street. Peter Copping was recently appointed to take over as creative director of the designer’s eponymous house.  [Fashionista]

DVFfgisuperstarAt Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars on Thursday evening, all attendees had the same person in mind: Oscar de la Renta. Though Diane von Furstenberg received the evening’s highest honor, the Superstar Award, she told Women’s Wear Daily, “I am thinking of Oscar.” Fittingly, the evening’s theme was ‘The Protagonists.’”

Model Karen Elson presented DVF with her award; other designers receiving a trophy included Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, Peter Copping, Joseph Altuzarra, Elie Tahari and Brunello Cucinelli. Guests included Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, Sean O’Pry, Marc Jacobs (last year’s Superstar honoree and presenter of Peter Copping’s award), Matt Lauer, Howard Schultz, Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl.

Style Scoop: Nike Pushes For Women, How Vince Is Prepping for Growth, H&M Commemorates “The First Ten Years”

By  October 23, 2014

StyleScoopOct23Nike is turning its focus to women. With a recent surge in interest in fitness from females, the athletics brand is issuing a response. At Nike’s global women’s summit in New York, the brand unveiled its new spring/summer 2015 collections and took the opportunity to share its plans for growth in years to come—which, yes, involves targeting women. Models Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Damaris Lewis and Jeneil WIlliams were on hand to present the clothing, which included Pedro Lourenço’s collaboration with the brand. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Contemporary label Vince achieved fashion’s biggest IPO on the New York Stock Exchange since Michael Kors—and since it did, it’s only continuing to grow. To do this, Vince’s chief executive officer, Jill Granoff, plans to make more people aware of the brand. According to Granoff, the label has fairly low “brand awareness,” meaning, they’re not reaching that many consumers. But, “those that know us, love us, wear us and want to buy us.” With pushes in footwear and accessories, Vince is setting itself up to expand in more ways than one. [Business of Fashion]

In conjunction with the release of its Alexander Wang collection, H&M is launching a commemorative book inspired by the history of designer collaborations. Since Karl Lagerfeld did a one-off collection for the retailer, the industry has changed: “Inexpensive is not ‘cheap’ anymore, that’s why the luxury industry has to make an even bigger effort,” Lagerfeld muses in The First Ten Years. “I think all that is very healthy.” Starting November 6, the book will sell for $11.50 at 250 stores. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Burberry is touching down on Rodeo Drive in November—but in more ways than one. The three-story flagship store will open on November 7, and on November 19, the store will receive the 22nd Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award. The award has been presented to Giorgio Armani, Tom Ford, Gianni and Donatella Versace, Mario Testino, the houses of Missoni and Ferragamo, Edith Head and Diana Vreeland, among others, since its inception in 2003. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Finnair and Marimekko take a new step in their design collaboration with Finnair Airbus 330. The aircraft will feature a previously unseen blue colorway of Marimekko’s classic Unikko (poppy) print. The plane will fly from Finnair’s Helsinki hub to the airline’s long-haul destinations starting at the end of this year. [Glam Inbox]

RHWChoker

Every day, we bring you celebrity sightings and stylings as seen everywhere from the streets to the red carpet. Whether they’re dolled up or dressed down, we can’t resist the need to know who wore what.

There’s no denying it: this season’s hottest accessory is a simple choker necklace. Based on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley‘s chic look, we’re happily trading in our bibs and oversized baubles in exchange for pieces like hers. A metal choker is understated enough to merely complement a cool outfit, but doesn’t fade into the background. So, you’ve been alerted: get one, now.
