SJPCalvinTrenchEvery day, we bring you celebrity sightings and stylings as seen everywhere from the streets to the red carpet. Whether they’re dolled up or dressed down, we can’t resist the need to know who wore what.

If Carrie Bradshaw is your spirit animal, Sarah Jessica Parker is, more simply, your alter-ego. The actress, forever intertwined with the Sex and the City character she created years ago, is always flawlessly dressed and therefore sits front row at Fashion Week beside Anna Wintour. BBFs, we guess. As the city cooled off, SJP brought the heat in a different form: an electric blue trench. Hello, lover.

Style Scoop: Marc Jacobs Attendees Wore Beats by Dre, The Costume Institute Goes East, The Karl Daily Is The Newest Paper You Have To Read

By  September 12, 2014

StyleScoopSept12

Leave it to Marc Jacobs to round New York Fashion Week in a most unexpected way. The designer’s Spring 2015 runway show took place at the Park Avenue Armory and involved Beats by Dre—a pair for each guest. An ominous automated male voice talked over the show’s soundtrack as models including Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Anja Rubik and Adriana Lima walked the runway. [PageSix]

The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition is called “Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film and Fashion.” It will explore the influence of China on creativity, from fashion and costume to paintings, porcelain, art and movies. The exhibition will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Anna Wintour Costume Center. This calls for a very interesting approach to the Met Ball’s red carpet. Yahoo will sponsor the event, hosted by Jennifer Lawrence, Gong Li, Yahoo president and CEO Marissa Mayer, Wendi Murdoch and Anna Wintour of course.[Women’s Wear Daily]

Karl Lagerfeld is writing…a newspaper? Since he usually sticks to photography and fashion, it’s a surprising move for the self-proclaimed “paper freak.” But, nonetheless, The Karl Daily is a “satirical” broadsheet that showcases the designer’s talents for sketching, wordplay, photography and winking humor, as well as the latest products from his signature brand. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Instead of taking the traditional runway route, London label AllSaints is debuting its Spring 2015 collection digitally. The collection, which nods to the ideas of flight and movement, is about a “global experience,” according to creative director Wil Beedle. It only makes sense, then, to share it with the locales to which the brand has recently expanded, including South Korea, the US, Canada and the Netherlands. [Women’s Wear Daily]

Speaking of which…are you sad that Fashion Week is headed from New York over to London? Well, lest you should be out of the fashion look, Vogue UK has everything you need to know about London’s upcoming week. Prepare to be dazzled by Marchesa, surprised by Topshop and blinded by Burberry as London Fashion Week unfolds. [Vogue UK]

DakotaFanningRodarteEvery day, we bring you celebrity sightings and stylings as seen everywhere from the streets to the red carpet. Whether they’re dolled up or dressed down, we can’t resist the need to know who wore what.

Dakota Fanning has officially aged out of her adorable ball gown-wearing-child-actress phase and into a fashion-focused grown up–and one who sits front row at Rodarte runway shows, at that. She’s no fashion newbie, though, and her red carpet history proves that she knows what she’s doing. Her all-white (after Labor Day, we might add) ensemble is a little sweet and a little sexy and an all-around Fashion Week slam dunk.

First Look: Alexander Wang for H&M

By  September 11, 2014

AWangHMWe’re still reeling from the awesome neon/sneaker overload we experienced at the Alexander Wang runway show, but it seems that the designer isn’t done just yet. Wang’s collaboration with H&M is due out November 9, and the retailer just released shots of the fitness-inspired collection. Of the collaboration, the designer said, “H&M has done a great job in the past with archive-based collaborations, but I wanted to create a collection where most of the pieces have been designed from scratch. There are only a couple of items that are updates from past designs. Rather than creating affordable versions of expensive items, I wanted to design true performance pieces that are within the natural price points of sportswear of H&M, so we were able to create the best version of these pieces, through our vocabulary.”

So far, we’re seeing the blocked Wang logo, sporty leggings and slide sandals. Of course, when the collection launches, you’ll want to wear pieces from your existing fitness gear collection to stores to ensure top-level performance as you fight the crowd and tear through merchandise to get everything you want. Then you’ll be able to change into your new Wang duds and make like you’re hitting the gym later. The countdown starts now.

NYFW Spring 2015 Day in the Life: Managing Editor Carolyn Hsu

By  September 11, 2014

NYFW-SPRING-2015-DAY-IN-THE-LIFE--MANAGING-EDITOR-CAROLYN-HSU

As Glam’s managing editor, my role during New York Fashion Week is more behind the scenes. While my team is out reporting from backstage and the front row, I’m mostly in the office filing stories, editing reviews, and making sure that Glam readers are the first to know about fashion trends and beauty looks for the new season. But that doesn’t mean I don’t take time to attend a few favorite shows, catch up with my publicist friends, and of course have a glass of champagne (or three) to celebrate the end of a great week.

Style Scoop: Donna Karan’s Memoir, Behind The Scenes with Bey, A Few Ways Apple Is Making Us More Efficient

By  September 11, 2014

StyleScoopSept11

Over the course of her illustrious career, Donna Karan used clothes as her medium to tell stores. Now, she’s taking to the written word to share more of her thoughts about her experiences in fashion. From Anne Klein to Seven Easy Pieces to DKNY, Karan will pen a memoir that allows her (and her fans) to “look back and reflect on my journey.”  [Women's Wear Daily]

We almost collapsed when CR Fashion Book revealed that Beyoncé was issue 5′s cover star, and the emotions washed over us again when we watched the behind-the-scenes video from the shoot. “This is gonna be really fun,” Bey narrates in the video. Just another day in the life…[CR Fashion Book]

Apple’s newest crop of gadgets includes the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple watch—and, certainly, they’re aiming to make our lives easier and more efficient. Think: using your tech to pay for dinner, learn about discounts at department stores, track your baggage, cut the lines at Disney world and turn on your lights. Welcome to the future. [Huffington Post]

Of course, fashion’s future just took a walk down the runway at #NYFW, where it felt like one giant rave. From Jeremy Scott to Alexander Wang, everyone was doing it—there was no shortage of electronic tunes, random DJ appearances, neon or “kandi” (thanks, Miley) at this season’s shows. [Fashionista]

Barbie got in on the Fashion Week action by hosting a party with the CFDA. Designers Charlotte Ronson, Cynthia Vincent, Rebecca Taylor, Tess Giberson and WHIT’s Whitney Pozgay all created one-of-a-kind looks for the Barbie Fashion Design Maker and revealed them at the exclusive fete. [Glam Inbox]

If you missed any part of the rave that was New York Fashion Week, Glam has you covered with our Fashion Week Insider hub. We summed it all up in recaps, interviews with designers, day-in-the-life slideshows and more, to make it easy for you to take it all in. Oh, and if you’re more visual and prefer Instagram to words, use #glamfwi on Instagram to follow Glam bloggers and editors on their fashion week journeys. [Glam Fashion Week Insider]

As we well know, Fashion Week doesn’t stop here—it only continues as it travels across the globe. Keep track of the fashion madness that graces city streets with eBay, which is crowdsourcing and curating photos of amazing street style and creating an instantly shoppable hub at Pinterest.com/eBay. You can share your own fashion inspiration using the hashtag #ShopInspired on Twitter and Instagram to be entered for a chance to win a trip to New York during Fashion Week in 2015. [Glam Inbox]

Mayhem A La Mode: Meet the Papier-Mache Queen

By  September 10, 2014

Samsung at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015 - Day 6 - BulkThere seems to be a theme with pint-sized powerhouses winning us over at Fashion Week. First, June Ambrose’s daughter Summer. Then Rachel Zoe’s two boys Skyler and Kaius. We’ve even got our own Kindergarten Critic whose expertise we couldn’t do without. Added to the mix, after a mini-meet-and-greet, is Mayhem!

You know her as the papier-mâché couturier, whose replicas of runway wears and red-carpet wins garnered 412,145 Instagram followers (and counting!), and the attention of Vogue. What we found most surprising about the fashionista is that a career in clothing design may not be in her future.

“A pizza maker,” she quipped at the Samsung Galaxy Lounge during New York Fashion Week when asked of her future aspirations. There’s plenty of time for the 4-year-old to change her mind, but mom Angie Keiser won’t bet on it.

“People ask us all the time, ‘Why don’t you do more videos?’” said Kaiser. “It’s because the majority of the time, she’s in her underwear. She does not like to wear clothes at home all that much! Someone asked her ‘Do you like paper clothes or real clothes?’ and she goes, ‘I don’t really like any clothes!’”

Still, her sartorial skills have blossomed.

“It’s interesting because it’s evolving now,” Kaiser said of Mayhem taking her designs to the next level. “We used to just go from photographs, now we can take a photograph of her and draw on it using an S-pen [from Samsung]… Now she’s learning how to draw things to scale and learn that people don’t have to have straight arms [in sketches]. They can have their hands on their hips!”

So sassy, that one!
